  1. Let's be real here, if they ever remove duoQ, pvp is gonna die out even faster. One of the reasons they brought duos back was probably a population issue. Not that it was ever healthy post s5. If you want 5v5, use the AT when they launch swiss tournaments in 2021.
  2. well, there is also a fact that if you do not login in time, you gotta buy chapters if you want to experience a story. I am sure Anet gains a lot more money with this move than we think they do. Yeah that might just be the case. Especially with new players. LW would probably hard to justify if it's completely unprofitable. But redirecting that effort towards expansions, while improving endgame modes seems much more appealing to me as a player. LW is such a bad concept. The hype for an episode is never going to reach anyone outside of the established playerbase. Just look up Google trends. Even POF, an expansion that was very poorly marketed, got decent attention. As I mentioned, only Anet knows the numbers, but looking at the state of the game, there is definetely room for improvement.
  3. The real question would be, why LW is getting this much attention. Are players who log in every three months to play the story really spending that much gems?
  4. Boonbeast is still one of the strongest builds for smallscale and especially solo roaming. I can play WS/NM with dura rune and still 100% dismount ppl with Quickening Zephyr, Wh5 Wh4, elite stance and Rapidfire. You don't even need to use all of this, since most enemies don't have three endurance bars free. Killing ppl without passives fast is also possible, while being hard to kill and having one additional utility. You only struggle killing Scrapper and other Boonbeasts, but Scrapper can't even hurt you and other good Boonbeasts are not that common. When your enemy uses op damage reduction food, u may want to use that too, if you want to teach them pain.
  5. Our server got killed by Anet by not giving it a link and marking it full, despite the fact that the server was long dead before that. The only hope for the players of this server was to transfer if they ever want to play decent WvW again. This Chaos is 100% Anet fault. After 12177 Hours on the same server i was forced to transfer. Im not happy. but you targetly have choosen a server where you knew it had a recent population increase already. and it isnt so you could not have choosen a different. dzagonur + gunnars will go t1 now and next relink dzagonur will be full now cause of you and get no link until it crashes like kodasch did crash. ofc you are very unhappy to blob the server and run over all the enemys the next weeks... tell that to an 80year old grandma... all the guild leaders who initiated the transfer are bad decision makers.^ this. And btw it's not 100% Anet's fault. They calculate their server load based on WvW acitivity and your's was probably still active, but 90% of your players were just lootpinatas. Sure Anet could refine their algorythm, but that one guy working on WvW is probably doing something else. Now you are clogging the queues, thanks to your wise guild leaders thinking the grass is greener on the other side. You are crying about population inbalance while mass bandwagoners are the root of the problem. I wouldn't be surprised if Anet unsplits the server in a few months, and your leaders forcing you to drain your ingame/irl wallets again for transferring. What a joke.
  6. I know this isn't a game changing feature for the majority of the PvP community (including me) and I don't want to bash any pvp devs with this. They (or that one guy) are probably doing their best with very little resources. It's just frustrating how this company treats their product right now. Especially when the actual combat system is the only thing that makes this game worthwhile. This gamemode as a whole needs some love, since pve is just pressing F 200 times for collections anyway in 2019 and beyond.
  7. Would be interesting if you could use a secondary class instead of elite specs. But with the current frequeny and size of balance patches this would be a nightmare. One thing, that is curious to me, is the recent change to Ranger shouts. Maybe they wanted to get rid of a few skills in the Shout category in order to nerf possible synergies.
  8. Remember when WvW was part of the core Tyria map exploration? Also crafting stations everywhere, quite literally no rewards, unplayable during reset and no server links. Ranger LB was 1.8k (up to 2k) range and you could get similiar bursts compared to sic em with the old Signet of the Wild. Stacking power buffs from pve guards and double stacking sigills were a thing. Balance was PVE only(not that it mattered). WvW was even more of a meme back in the days. Edit: weren't enemies invisible if your pc couldn't load the models in time? Don't know too much about the even darker days.
  9. Personally I don't think PvP is as bad, as the average silver rank forum poster likes the readers to think. The problem is that anet sees this gamemode as "finished" and barely adds new stuff. They drop season after season without any changes. When you look at other games, they change stuff up each season or swap rewards. It's just not appealing anymore at this point. If they continue like this, the community is going to bleed out which will cripple matchmaking even further. They don't even need to try hard. All they need to do is put one of the new skins, instead of the gemstore, into the last pip chest. And change them up each season. We have seen ppl go crazy over new limited rewards in the world boss event. I know we are now getting new armor skins, but I'm guessing most players will just instagrab them, since there aren't many currency sinks...
  10. Its clear you haven't played ranger or spend little time on it. That build is good for nothing but taking out the afk and those not paying attention/bad at the pvp aspect of the game. He blows his heal and at least two utilities to down someone. He has no stun break or stab and no unblock-able damage. With the magic of editing it makes this trash meme build look amazing but at 2:54 you see him nuke the mes that's off in lala land not paying attention then cuts the video when the base warrior puts up its shield and goes for him. 99% positive he got his backside handed to him by that guy. One dodge or block then a followup burst with some cc and this ranger setup is a sitting bag. There's much more effecting roaming builds that are 10x as annoying to deal with as this smc wall hugger special. Warrior must be the real god since it killed it. nerf thief and ele. /s Welcome to the forums where highly edited joke videos are used as actual evidence. I even saw that video and a similiar one from unranked, posted in the PvP forums for an argument. Yeah good luck running that in high rated games.

  12. If you use the Fern Hound pet (or any of the dogs), you get a movement skill like owl f1 on Soulbeast. The owl movement skill has more range, but the dog skill can be spammed every 3 seconds outside combat. Just swap weapons(not stowing) while using it and you can reset the cooldown to 3 seconds which gives you insane mobility. Sadly it only works out of combat and is useless now with mounts. I'm not even sure if it works right now. Could still be potentially useful in PvP until they add mounts.
  13. U can probably hit 100k with one skill on a broken tower lord with a the norn elite racial on soulbeast with all + npc damage infusions.

  16. The raid and collection based trinkets should just have unique auras. The WvW stuff not. Months ago there have been text strings( I guess ) related to legendary WvW/PvP gear datamined. But nothing ever has come from that. Also recently some dev teased new rewards for WvW/PvP, so maybe we will just get that pretty soon if I'm overly optimistic.

  18. Arenanet is supporting a single player RPG right now, not an MMO. So much talent and work hours wasted on three hour content, no one is going to replay. Even if alliances make it into the game, it's still the same old WvW mode. Winning isn't going to matter and balance will be still the ugly stepchild of sPvP. Which is sad, since WvW has great potential and could wipe the floor with other RvR games.
  19. Can this forum not create a Soulbeast debate for a minute? The thing about "duelists" in WvW (those who only do 1v1s at the dueling place) often hide behind pretty broken builds and damage reduction food. I could go full cele Druid and not die while boring my opponent to death. In reality, a good roamer needs a versatile build with mobility that can also handle multiple opponents. I don't think you can compare those two gamemodes very well, since it's, outside of 1v1s, a very different playstyle. In terms of skill the very (consistent) top players can probably outplay 99% of the roamers with ease. But if you go a bit down towards average platinum skill level, there is not really a difference most of the time.
  20. Sort of related question. Is it even worth running Leader of the pack anymore? You get like 1,25 sec from the elite and 1 additional second from dolyak stance. No cd reduction, no boon extension, just shared stance for a few seconds. Elite could be nice in midfights, but trying to coordinate 3 secs with randoms isn't going to work out very often. Everyone is picking this trait by default, but I think the other traits may deserve a second look.
  21. Soulbeast is quite okay, even in high tier. But the Sic em build ppl are complaining about isn't even that good.
  22. Aren't there at least two other active threads regarding that topic? Mods are going to make a megathread if this goes on like this. Also OP, even a 70% baseline damage reduction won't save you if let yourself hit by every single hard hitting skill.
  23. I generally refrain from calling for outright nerfs, but it is beyond time for PP Thief to have its turn with the nerf bat like everyone else. I don't care if we're talking PP Deadeye, PP Core, or anything in between. Just far too much sustain for its level of output--period. Or far too much damage for its level of sustain, take your pick. Either way, far too effective for how safe it is to play. LOS iS yOuR fRiEnd I don't care if LOS can counter pistol. You don't always have access to LOS every time they start blasting you with heavily boosted Unload from somewhere off screen. Many builds are left with a chunk of their health gone, and a dodge blown before even engaging thanks to a Thief mashing one key from 900+ range while you're running or fighting someone else. SnIpEr iS a RoLe I don't care if PP Thief can be compared to how Deadeye was. Death's Judgment was way more telegraphed on a build that was as glass as it gets, and look what happened to it. It'S nOt EvEn UsEd aT ToP LeVeL/mAt I don't care if PP Thief is not the most viable in the top 10% when it's over performing in the remaining 90%. Reality Check Even as PeePee Thief escapes balance update after balance update untouched, it gets indirectly buffed when potential counters like Mesmer have most of their Reflection deleted. As it stands, PP Deadeye is one of only a couple specs that have not seen real, build-altering nerfs since creation. Way too many stacking damage modifiers, excessive might stacking, and trait synergies resulting in a literal beast of an overtuned spec. I'm looking at you: Pistol 3. Way too much sustain via access to stealth, mobility, boon spam, and invuln, and way too much damage relative to that amount of sustain--on all viable builds. Way too safe to play by dealing huge damage at max range, and way too forgiving thanks to stealth and passives. Even if the PP Thief messes up, even if it's downed, their stomp immunity is best-in-game thanks to stealth. Speaking of stealth, there are zero consequences for their messing up since u are instantly stealthed after using the elite skill. It's the ultimate low-risk, high-reward, no trade-offs spec. If PeePee Thief doesn't get hit, and hit hard, in the next major balance update, they are apparently immune to change, and a big part of why inter-class balance is so broken.

Don't expect any reasonable response. Probably someone is going to post an unranked montage or a WvW video again to "prove" their point. The thing is ppl are literally shaking when they see someone playing Sic em. They create a forum post before the match even ends. They make "damage calculations" and use the word "OP" a lot. Most Ranger players probably don't even care about it being nerfed since it's mostly just a fun skill to screw with new players.
