  1. The final phase of Whisper of Jormag isn't that bad. Yes, things get a little more exciting near the end, but if my glass cannon can stay alive on her own during that phase, then so should anyone else be able to. Especially if there's also a healer in the group. A necromancer placing a Flesh Wurm can block a lot of the projectiles that spawn. The icycles still require a well timed dodge, but the party should know this dodge by now. If the party is spread out a bit, the chains should be no issue either. Just keep your distance when the balls spawn, and go in for dps when they stop, then back away again. I think what kills the most players, is failing to dodge the icycles (because they can't get the timing down) and trying to res a party member and getting killed in the process. This is one of those fights where you should not rely on healing through all the damage. You must dodge those icycles.
  2. I think they should just scrap the existing dungeons (yes, including Arah) and give them a proper design. They have been a mess since the game launched. Caudicus Manor is just an awful gimmicky insta-kill fest that isn't any fun, and involves a lot of players getting lost. Ascalon Catacombs is just boring and repetitive, with a minor dps check. Arah is the one where everyone just runs past all the mobs and skips 80% of it. Citadel of Flame is again a dungeon where people just past everything, and the final boss seems kind of broken. Honor of the Waves, again, skippidy skip-skip, and bosses that are HP sponges. Twilight Arbor and Crusible of Eternity are just kind of forgettable. I don't like any of them.
  3. This has been my experience as well. There are so many players who run berserker builds and don't know (or care to know) any of the boss mechanics. This is why I often find myself in Fraenir groups, where I seem to be the only one dodging his shockwave, and then the rest of the party is down on the ground. People just stack on the boss and don't bother to dodge, and then blaim the lack of a 2nd healer for wiping. Look folks, this isn't very complicated! He hangs in the air for several seconds and has a very clear audio cue. You can't miss it. Just dodge when he lands and thats it!
  4. I feel this mechanic should have a clear visual indicator, other than the entire party suddenly being dead. I don't think it is entirely fair the way it is implemented now. I have been in several pugs that would repeatedly wipe, without having any clue what was going on. I can explain it to them of course, but I shouldn't have to.
  5. -I've been locked outside the barrier in Cold War several times. It usually teleports players in eventually, but it shouldn't happen at all.-The Whisper of Jormag also occasionally bugs, and can break entirely during the doppleganger phase.-Boneskinner sometimes hits and insta-kills before any aoe effects show up.
  6. Strike Missions are intended to help casual players get into raiding, not the other way around.
  7. I think this is a reasonable point. Full disclosure: I have not done any raids yet, apart from a brief practice run for Key to Adashim. I have however practiced some rotations on the training golem, optimised my build and crafted myself some raid food. I have also gotten my gear up to Ascended quality and watched some raid videos. Starting this week, I'm going to try point 1: Trying to find a raid group. I think joining a specific raid guild is a step that I'm not willing to make just yet, but I don't mind joining a Discord server to coordinate with the rest of the team. I'll have a look around to see if there are raid groups without 250 LI requirements. I'll report my findings at the end of the week.
  8. I respect what you're saying, and don't disagree in theory. Having clear communication regarding what sort of people you are looking for is fine... ...as long as it is reasonable. Asking for 250 KPI for Shiverpeak Pass is not reasonable, it is stupid. I don't respect stupidity. Further more, Strike Missions are intended to help players get into raiding for crying out loud! They are there to get around the harsh requirements of raiding, and teach people basic raid boss mechanics. And then we have people asking for raid experience to do what is intended as a raid stepping stone. That does not deserve any respect.
  9. This is one of the Fractals I enjoy the most. It has a cool environment, and a challenging boss fight at the end. Unfortunately it also means that most pugs wipe at this boss. My only gripe is that darn shark. If only that shark wasn't there, I would be able to solo this boss easily after my group inevitably wipes. :D Also, the Hamstrung Instability is pretty unfair at this boss. It makes it nearly impossible to avoid being blown off the ship, unless your healer is still alive. But as long as I bring plenty of condition removal, my necro does just fine at this boss.
  10. It's not a very compelling Strike Mission. The bosses are punching bags with just a lot of health, and the rest is just spamming of weak mobs while you stay in one place. But it IS different from the other Strike Missions, and perhaps that is the point. But I don't find it that fun to do. Most of the Strike Missions are just a short boss battle, which means it doesn't outstay its welcome. The Forging Steel mission is a lot longer, but has a lot of variety in it, plus a fun boss battle. This new one feels long, but without the variety.
  11. I understand both sides of this problem. On one hand asking for LI from raids to do a strike mission is absurd. On the other, I know the frustration of doing an easy strike mission, and still having people drop like flies at the first attack. So some basic combat experience would be nice. Surely there is a middle ground to be found?
  12. One of many reasons why I severely dislike insta-kill mechanics. It completely negates Deathshroud and armor, and places the focus even more on dps.
  13. I don't think that is what I said at all. Plus, is that all you gathered from my post? How about point number 1, or point number 3?Also, I never called you toxic, but I implied that you were being rude in your post(s). Which you were. Don't misunderstand what I'm saying. I'm not going to join a LFG when I don't meet the requirements of what they are asking (most of the time*). But I don't need to respect anyone for having outrageous LFG requirements. (" There was this one time a group asked for a guardian, and I joined the group anyway and told them I was a guardian disguised as a necromancer.)
  14. Is helping others a "good" thing to do? If yes, then helping to teach people how to fractals, falls into that category. If not, then what is good in your opinion? I didn't disallow anything. As far as I know, I'm not in charge of who gets to do what in GW2 (but wouldn't it be cool if I was? Bye mesmers!). I never suggested that at all. What I said, was that excluding people with absurdly high requirements is bad for the game, and counter productive. Because if you want to get a party together quickly, that will not help you accomplish that. And if you want to guarantee a success, it will not do that either, since you are not asking for Strike Mission experience. I don't have to respect other people's LFG's at all, and I think that is a perfectly fine position to take. That was (obviously) the goal, as well as showing that inexperienced players can sometimes be better than experienced players to have in your group.
  15. The problem with quoting the words of others, is that they are not your words, and they can there for easily betray a misunderstanding of the original quote.Such is the case with your application of the popular phrase "The road to hell is pathed with good intentions". That phrase applies only to situations of good intentions leading to bad consequences. It does not however, apply to good acts. If I offer to teach random strangers how to do Fractals, that's a good act. You can't apply that phrase to it. It doesn't work. This is also the case with your quote regarding moral certainty. If you're going to use those words, you had better make sure that the person you are discussing with made a statement of moral certainty, which I did not. I gave an opinion, not a statement of moral certainty. Maybe you should stop quoting others. If you are of the opinion that my act of offering to teach people how to do Fractals leads to "hell" or bad things. Then my question would be: "How?"
  16. I'm not making any such demand at all. I made no demands what so ever. Wow! By that reasoning you could dismiss every kind act as being a bad thing. The argument is not about if they have 'the right' to make any LFG they want. The argument is if they 'should' make these rediculously high requirements for content that does not require it. And I think they shouldn't. You are not improving your tone good sir. Not one bit.
  17. Specifically, with how they exclude people with very absurd requirements. Don't leave that out. There is a difference between positivity and welcoming all manner of people, and the exact opposite. They are not the same, obviously. So because I gave an example of a positive way to make a LFG, I should there for approve of every kind of LFG, including the really exclusive and unpleasant ones? Well this reply of yours is all manners of unpleasant isn't it?Something tells me that you're not really interested in polite discussion.
  18. I'm not sure what the point is that you are trying to make. It wouldn't affect me, first of all. But second, that wouldn't happen, because I'm being inclusive. I haven't seen anyone in the game being against being inclusive. So where are you going with this?
  19. I got one after playing through a full cycle of the events on the new map (including the final attack and the caches afterwards). I'm not exactly sure at which moment I got it, but it was somewhere near the end for sure.
  20. A few days ago I put up a lfg for a "newb friendly fractal group, all welcome". The result was surprising. I got mostly people who had never done Fractals at all, but wanted to learn. I told them that no one would get upset if they made a mistake, and that I would explain every fractal. They could bring whatever build they felt comfortable with, but I did advise them to bring condition removal and a stun breaker. Everyone listened very well to my instructions and it was a fast run. I have rarely had a random group that did so well. They were all very friendly nice people, and they were also really good players on top of that. We cleared each fractal smooth and quickly, which has not been my experience with any other random group. Also, they stuck around for 10 fractals in a row! I think we need to be more inclusive, not exclusive.
  21. I kind of enjoy this fractal, but it is one of those fractals where pugs often start dropping like flies (T3 and T4). The combination of instabilities and conditions, wrecks havoc on players with insufficient defense. And the huge number of things to dodge, punishes dodge spamming. You have to be strategic when you dodge and when you walk. The fight gets a lot easier when you focus a bit on the additional enemies that spawn, and clear them before focusing on the boss. It is also important to coordinate people to get on top of that green circle when it appears. Also, players have to avoid getting blown off the ship every time. I've encountered numerous players at fractal difficulties T3 and T4, who still didn't get the basic mechanics. Those are the kinds of players who really should be practicing this fractal at a lower difficulty first.
  22. They should have removed the damage and improved the effects.
  23. It is note worthy to mention that in GW1 we see Charr inhabit any of the original core professions. We see: Warrior: Charr Warrior / Charr Axe Fiend / Charr Blade Storm / Charr Scout / Ember Bearer / Charr Skullcrusher / Charr Tracker / Charr Shadowblade / Elite Charr Guard / Charr Blademaster / Charr AxemasterRanger: Charr Hunter / Charr Stalker / Charr Sentry / Charr Demolisher / Charr Scout / Charr Seeker / Charr Warden / Elite Charr GuardMonk: Charr Shaman / Charr Martyr / Charr Overseer / Charr Mender / Charr ProphetNecromancer: Charr Ashen Claw / Charr Ash Walker / Charr Ash Caller / Charr Ash Storm / Charr Ash Thief / Charr Defiler / Charr HexreaperMesmer: Charr Chaot / Charr Mind Spark / Charr Mind Lord / Charr DominatorElementalist: Charr Fire Caller / Charr Flame Wielder / Flame Keeper / Charr Wardkeeper / Charr Flame Lord /Charr Sootreigner / Charr Firereigner /Charr FlameshielderRitualist: Charr Ash Bearer / Charr Avenger No common Charr assassins, apart from bosses. There are also a few rare dual profession Charr in GW1. Warriors, rangers, monks, necromancers and elementalists seem the most represented in GW1 among the Charr.
