  1. Shadowstep is a great way to engage/disengage from groups, particularly so when paired with Blinding Powder. You get tons of synergy when used with Specter eSpec because of the barrier you gran/get from stealth. Lots of fun to be had if you get accustomed to reading pushes from groups of enemies, and knowing when to port out. the S/D combo is also good for porting around because you can use sword 2 without selecting an enemy to essentially get a free port and cleasnse to that specific spot too. These are are just a few tools to help with your positioning. Well of Gloom is quite underrated as well, and is a short gap closer (or gap-maker, if you're trying to escape). It's often just enough to make people stop wanting to chase you. It also serves as a decent healing skill now because of the heal-per-tick increase they gave it a few patches ago.
  2. significantly less clunky than sc/p because of the forced movement on sc 3. You can run around sniping people if/when required, then jump into your shroud to cleanse condis and just tank damage when you see someone coming to burst you.
  3. Specter player here. If you're buying exotics off TP, I suggest buying carrion and work your way to making Viper's. You can keep your carrion rings and amulet (if you need vitality) but the remainder of your trinkets should move towards Viper's too. You're correct in your assumption that Specter plays better as condi, and the scepter is a really fun weapon with both pistol and dagger. I personally roam wvw using scepter/dagger with torment and malice sigils, and then sword/dagger with cleanse and energy sigils. This build works great for pve too, whether instanced content or just open world.
  4. People tend to send hate mails to roamers in wvw. I used to receive about 2 mails per every 8 or so hours I played in wvw. Being a thief player tends to make you a magnet for this kind of harassment as well, sadly. I've seen people use friends, or log in on alts, to continue sending the hate mail after you've blocked them too. It's very annoying. As for reporting in-game, I agree it seems to do little. What I have found works better is to take screenshot and open a ticket with support. You may not be told of their actions taken, but you'll get a more certain reply as to whether or not they're looking into the incident.
  5. I've found that moving on certain frames of the cast animation will cause this. Oddly enough, I've found a way to purposeful trigger it and use it to my advantage when roaming. You can bait dodges out of people because the slow projectile tracks them relatively well and they don't know how to react.
  6. Yeah, the axe both as a condi and power weapon needs a tweak in numbers. It's just not hitting with a hard enough burst due to the set-up mechanics of the wep. Even if you manage to line everything up, it feels like sc/d but with extra steps.
  7. I appreciate and second the idea of sequence skills, albeit I'd like them to be similar to gw1 dagger Sin builds
  8. If we're seeing changes to guild hall arenas, can you also fix the boundary issues with the Isle of Meditation? More than half of the outer lying islands are still inaccessible... Even with a fully upgraded GH.
  9. If I remember correctly, you should be able to craft one on your own even if you've deleted the item. Just make sure you've got the required leathrwokring, armorsmithing, and/or tailor level. The wiki had good info on it under "Notes" https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Simple_Olmakhan_Bandolier
  10. This whole fiasco about the in-game collectible having limited use, no real value, or that it was randomly given away again in an other event, happened previously too with the Aruene Capes, that were supposed to be limited only for those who bought the collectible statue irl. I've learned to never trust Anet when they partner up with someone to make something that is "exclusive", and every since have taken all their promotions with a grain of salt. Virtually every major "limited" or "exclusive" promotion they've done in the past two years have ended up very close to being border-line false advertisement every time. Learned my lesson after that and I refuse to buy any Anet endorsed or GW related real-world collectible since. Edit: The sheer fact that they've now added a disclaimer is case in point. Smh.
  11. Since the last patch, Eternal Night will at times not heal at all regardless of whether tethered or untethered. This bug seems to be occuring most often when using Larcenous Torment. Eternal Night was working just fine before the patch. I'm so tired of this, honestly... literally can't go one patch without a core function of a class breaking.
  12. While I can't answer whether Specter is for you, I can say that I went from being a Power D/P Daredevil to now playing a Sc/D condi Specter (with S/D as my support kit because of stealth and ports). You're still somewhat limited with single targets, but your shroud, wells, and preparations (Thousand Needles mostly) makes up for it in PvE. For WvW, it takes some getting used to, but Sc/D is a very potent set if you use Vipers. Particularly so if you know how to use your ports for heals from Traversing Dusk, and with barrier granted from Panaku's Ambition after using skills like Blinding Powder, Cloak and Dagger, etc. Being able to grant yourself alactity in PVE is also great fun, as well as the condi clear you get from Hungering Darkness. Specter for the most part is a condi-class. I've seen people play S/D, D/P Specters in WvW, but I wouldn't be able to tell you its effectiveness vs the condi variant. The main-hand axe that's coming for thief I suspect will be a short-range 5 target AoE power weapon, which I suppose will synergise well with power Spectre, since MH Dagger is a hyrbid/condi wep.
  13. The scepter projectiles were updated to move faster in the patch before this. I believe it was a 66% velocity increase.
  14. I think adding a boundary markers to hearts on the map in PVE would be a good idea tbh. You'd at least be able to see what events/parts of the map contribute to the relevant heart. Would be a good QoL for new players for sure.
  15. Been having a lot of issues with CnD since the patch as well, particularly in WvW. It's just not connecting when I'm clearly and obviously well within range. Very frustrating to say the least. And no, I'm not revealed, or near a sentry; it is simply just not connecting when it should be. I've also been running S/D, and now Sc/D, for years, it has never 'not hit' like this before. This is getting to the point where I'm about to point the game down for good (likely permanently this time). 10 odd years later, and we're still facing really dumb bugs like this. I've been playing thief (particularly dagger off hand) for more than 4.6k hours, and something feels VERY kitten off. My muscle memory doesn't lie, and it feels SO CLUNKY to suddenly play. Really dissapointed. I don't even believe Anet thinks this is an 'issue'.
  16. I love the skin, but not having any "steering" controls near the driver/player like most other skiff skins do, really bothers me.
  17. Me too tbh. I've suggested in the past that perhaps it should work like a sticky-bomb, one that damages foes if stuck to an enemy, or heals if stuck to an ally
  18. I like the idea of the reward track! Would also be nice if the map didn't do a hard reset, kicking you out, after every meta. A soft reset like silverwastes would be great.
  19. I've been playing Gw2 for umpteen years now, and almost exclusively on thief/engi (did however play sin/mes in gw1). I'm looking to now play a mesmer instead, as I've recently gotten back into DnD, and have fallen in love with Warlock. Specter for thief somewhat cures the itch to play a warlock-like class, but I feel mesmer is more akin to it in the long run. I'm super into scepters, but I can't get a roaming condi build to work for wvw. (I've seen a lot of really fun looking power-builds, but they seem to all use GS/Sword, and so it led me to assume that Scepter is the main condi wep for you guys.) Currently, I play a Vipers/Carrion with Torment runes, on Condi Specter for wvw, so I'm curious if there's someting similar available, but for mesmers. I can't seem to build up condi as quickly (or as impactfully) as I can on my vipers thief. I might just be playing/doing something incorrectly, so I'm open to any thoughts/suggestions. Any build suggestions would also be much appreciated ❤️
  20. Similar problem to the above mentioned...and this issue has become ever more persistent. Over the last two months, things have been getting progressively worse. It is to the point where even standing idle in Amnoon/Thousand Seas Pavillion will see my ping go to 300-1.5k... It's only GW2 that has this issue, it's definitely not my ISP nor my system. I've been playing for many, many years without this ever being an issue. Hoping for a fix sooner, rather than later.
  21. Managed to recreate this issue as per your provided instructions, but I agree with Healix, it's probably because the UI element is just detected cursor position and doesnt check state of the cursor (i.e. wether pressed down or not).
  22. Kralk skins have a similar issue. The trail on Kralk weapons even looks blocky at times.. Like it's low res or something. Quite gutted tbh.
  23. Tbh, the kappas in gw2 look more akin to those depicted in Japanese folk lore, when compared to what the gw1 variants looked like
