  1. I quit for a few years due to multiple issues in life and in game. I just kind of got overwhelmed and lost interest in the same manner you mention. One thing that has helped me get back in is one of the guilds I am with, Incoming Quaggans [iQ] has excellent members and a lot of communication and organized activities. I would recommend checking out this discord if you want to get an idea on the guild - discord.gg/zRNgywE. I do have to add that when I quit, I was already a member and had been active, for me, for a bit. It was mostly the in life issues that overwhelmed the connection to guild members. There are regularly scheduled guild events, guild missions a few times a week, raid/strike/dragon mission trainings and runs, and a few people have helped me out with learning WvW and fractals. Another thing that really got me back in was picking achievements to tackle in smaller groupings, (I am a completionist at heart and kept focusing on too many things at once). I regularly run with my brother and we just started going through achievement lists starting with EoD maps. It was amazingly simple to start getting the map zone masteries complete. We also started the legendary journey masteries, we started them all at once and we are ready for level 2 for almost all of them. I also have found a lot of satisfaction and enjoyment with helping new players so I try to check LFG and some times Map Chat to see if people need help with anything. I would be happy to run with you to see if you find working on any of the achievements to be fun rather than work. I am in NA east coast btw but can end up playing any time of day/night depending on day of the week and my work schedule. I hope that you are able to find something that keeps you going because it sounds to me like you really like this game you are just missing that core thing to drive you to get in.
  2. I would absolutely love a Lizard based type of mount that would add in the movement ability of being able to walk on walls. It could also have an attack and/or movement option using its tongue like the Oakheart's Essence. Depending on the target it would either pull you to it or pull it to you. This could add in areas where you need to move horizontally on a wall than pull yourself/stick to new sections like a floating maze or obstacle course. The skin options would be amazing - whole slew of reptiles and amphibians, squirrels, chipmunks, goats, crabs, spiders (I personally would hate this though), ants, etc. I would really like to know what others think would be good mount possibilities based around the function of movement.
  3. With the change in expansion model are rangers going to be getting new pets from any or all of the new map releases, or is it going to be like with the Living World system where there are no new pets? I am really hoping that this change doesn't signal the end of new pet options and have been hoping that eventually there would be new/expanded pet options in existing maps. For example, it would be awesome to have a turtle (not siege turtle, which is technically a tortoise) that would be focused on support functions in underwater combat.
  4. I keep hoping that they are going to introduce a significant under water section on one of the new maps or even just expand some current maps to add underwater layers for the storyline.
  5. I would love for Jeweler crafting to go up to 500. I know you can easily get ascended trinkets, accessories, and back items via other means in the game. I just think it would be cool to be able to craft them as well. Also, maybe create ascended gathering tools with a level 500 jeweler. They wouldn't need to have a fancy animation and there is an argument for giving it something simple and quick like maybe just a flash of colored light depending on what you used to build it. Also maybe have something where you could use an unlimited tool to craft something fancier or with two glyph slots. That would be the first step to adding legendary gathering tools with awesome animation that would be unlimited, have multiple glyph slots and the ability to quick swap via right-click with any glyphs you have on your account. Creating legendary gathering tools adds them to the legendary armory and can also pull in the glyphs that you have which are used and cannot be sold or traded. Or maybe add a jade bot module slot to go with multiple glyphs (one for extra items and one for effects)
  6. I would love to have a water garden/hydroponic type of plot for home instance. Something for lotus, coral, seaweed, mussels, and other water gathers. Maybe even setup something so we can gather fish that we could breed and do daily catch of that type from the home instance.
  7. The Quality of Life thread has become unwieldy and unfriendly. There are a ton of great ideas that do not get any discussion because they are buried in the hundreds of pages. This, at least for me, has led me to stop actively discussing anything and I hardly ever post anymore since it seems like things get buried so quickly. Not to mention all of the threads that get dumped into the QoL thread, and end up losing context, that just cause confusion. They are great topics but you have no idea what most specific comments refer to since it was an direct topic comment and the poster had no need to quote what they are replying to and make following discussions within the one mega thread so difficult. I suggest that you create Quality of Life as a separate higher level category that would allow users to post topics and keep their threads intact and separate, as well as creating discussion around various topics that continually show up in QoL like interface suggestions, home/guild hall, elites/professions, pets, additional functions in game (like library, zoo, activities, etc...). I just think encouraging the community to keep suggesting ways that the game could improve or adjust would only help the game in the future. I hope that this gets some comments and hopefully someone from ANet will actually reply or think about it before just moving it to the Quality of Life thread.
  8. I would really love to have the weapons we learn with new elite specializations be available to all of the specializations/core profession, at least in PvE. I understand the skills and utilities not staying but it really seems off to me that you would learn how to utilize a new weapon and then just lose that ability when switching out profession specific traits. PvE is structured in a way that you can use weapons without having corresponding traits selected without it making it impossible to get through encounters. I may be looking at this too simplistically and there is a valid background reason to keep the weapon locked and would really appreciate it if anyone who does see that view can share so I can hopefully learn. Also, I was thinking if this was able to be done, it would be a good option for more horizontal progression via the mastery system.
  9. forgot the reason I first looked at this thread. 😕 I am really glad that you had this experience and found a first friend. I hope that you continue to have the positive interactions and help pass it along to others. You will likely at times run into idiots who just want to troll everyone, I hope those people don't discourage you from playing and playing in the way you find you enjoy the most.
  10. I agree completely and remember the awe that players seemed to have at launch that everything in PVE was co-operative. Someone would die and a swarm of people would show up to heal them, and the comments were just full of amazed players just getting a kick out of rezzing another player. I think the novelty ended up growing into the base community behavior around players genuinely helping each other out. The community did start to change after a while which was pretty sad, but there were still large groups that would jump in to help whenever needed. I think the implementation of the mentor tag really also helped with that. Some players really just log in to find newbies to help out even if it is just in a new map. There are also a lot of players who help out with porting on jumping puzzles or walking new players through the steps without requesting/requiring payment. That really helped me a lot and I now try to help others as much as I can when I am playing.
  11. This would be awesome, and I hope that ANet actually reads and implements this change. I know that there have been multiple entries added to the QoL thread discussing this and similar items such as a miniature stable/zhaishan menagerie for ranger pets; adding an area to display your minis; adding dogs via hunts like the cates; etc. It has been a while since I posted any suggestions since it was appearing that ANet no longer actually read, acknowledged, or implemented a suggestion in some fashion. I am going to take the opportunity to also shamelessly suggest that we get additional items for home instance (preferably through a hunt/achievement rather than purchase or at least in addition to purchase). Noxious Pod node currency converter (for all of the different additional map currencies introduced after the core game) seaweed node jade battery jade bot workbench mastery point (like the hero point/krait obelisk) Candy Cane that can drop snowflakes, or Snowflake node that can drop candy canes gemstone/jewel node petrified echovald sapling jadeite vein upgrades to existing mining veins to allow for rich options asuran gate to go to each of the areas available with portal tomes or tools that you have unlocked (hop between home instances if you have home instance portal)
  12. It would be great if they actually did this, but it has been getting suggested in this forum for years so I don't have high hopes that they will do anything about it.
  13. My brother plays Ranger as main and has named the Ranger pets after our lost pets. It isn't as nice as being able to have the mini that looks like them, but it is something. I hope that they allow this for you.
  14. It has been an extremely long time since I have read or posted in the forums but I am trying to get back into the game and thought of something that would really help me out and I think could be good for other players as well. I would love to have options on wardrobe, achievements, hero panel, or its own UI that would allow me to add items that I want to try and unlock, collect, or complete and would group those items for the map I am on or point me to another map with a listing of how many items on my list could get knocked out. This could also be really great for getting me into Fractals and WvW, maybe raids. It could also link to LFG so other players hunting things on the same map can co-ordinate. I hope that someone from Anet still reads these forums and that this suggestion would help enough people and be easy enough to implement at some point.
  15. That was originally the idea behind the daily log-in reward. I think they should update the options or provide multiple log-in reward tracks that grow up to something unique.
  16. This an extremely popular request with a lot of different suggestions on implementation. However, the main thing if an auto consume of food/utility/boosters really should be added. I am hoping it is one of the QoL things being worked on in the background for release soon.
  17. I have setup a chat tab for a solo/personal guild. It works well for pasting links and other items for me to reference while in the same game session. I would really love your idea as a better alternative. I would also like to see an option to dump chat to a file like the screen capture functionality, or set some chat content as pinned or accessible in some manner over time and across characters.
  18. I don't think adding the markers to the overall map key would be practical, as they only show when you have a particular achievement activated. Once you complete the related achievement step, that location is really no longer valid. I do agree it should be easier to see them. I suggest as an alternative solution to make them icons bigger like the x on the awakened assault events. I would also like to see them on the full map view.
  19. I would love to see some achievements for other professions to learn how to obtain better or advanced drops related to the crafting professions from nodes and kills.
  20. What about adding unidentified gear as a crafting material. Might be cool with ascended jeweler if that happens.
