Minis in wvw

Probably not everyone fav.. but i love minis its like a part of my character theme..   mini however in wvw is not recommended bcos it reveal to enemy where we are during stealth. Is there a way in wvw so players dont actually need to disable mini manually during a battle .. bcos after i disabled it for wvw purpose.. it will stay permenantly disable or if i activate mini again, i forget to disable it before next battle and ppl will get frustrated..  

If the system automatically disable mini during combat that will help a lot and players can leave the mini activated all time if they wish.  Idk not a big issues as we can just keep mini deactivated at all time.. it'd be nice if we can use it freely however.

But yeh the lowest priority matter but i thought id mention.

Put this in Quality of Life - different game mode has different mini setting.

Usually minis should automatically disappear when there's too many people nearby anyway, but somehow - for a few months now - minis won't even disappear when there's 3 blobs fighting at stonemist.

I've always wondered what the point of displaying or dragging minis behind you in a (actually) competitive mode is. For me, they have their place or justification in a purely PvE oriented game mode. In sPvP as an example, minis remain in the base (although not always, because it is sometimes buggy).

 

Why ANet allows displaying minis in WvW, ... has probably several reasons. One keyword could be "Gem store" (even if many can be gained in the game itself). Would players avoid the game mode just because they are not allowed to drag their minis behind them?

 

For my part, I would have long wished or expected such an option in the settings, in which I can decide for myself to display minis (the others', not mine) or to disable them. The only use I get out of it (in WvW) is when players play a class like a thief (permanently invisible) for example, giving away their position or path. 

 

The same goes for mount skins, many are far too brightly glowing or have an exaggerated unnatural shine that almost blinds you.

OR if MInis are automatically disabled as soon as u enter any wvw-map! its such a pain.. yesterday morning alone I saw 8 ppl running around with Minis in EB.  
and when u friendly whisper them why it would be better if they disable the mini they insult u instantly.  Only ONE of them replied in a friendly way. 
and then those ppl wonder why comms kick u from the squad if u drag a mini after u.. 

there is no better way of reveal urself as a wvw-noob then draging a mini after u.   Also these  100 % WvW-exp should be disabled, its such a pain to play wvw during those weeks.. just so annoying.

Why do people act like its crime to be noob?

BTW, I play with mini out sometime and it works wonderfully to lure some desperate people looking for easy kill.

I got reported (or so they told me) for hacking a few weeks ago because a thief had his mini out and I was following his every move.

 

The past month or so I have noticed a large increase of people running minis in WvW. The best was a "perma" stealth thief that I was chasing and he stopped to hide in a corner which i could tell because of his mini, so I tossed a target painter on him, lmao.

who said its a crime to be a noob ?? 
but when ur in a squad and the comm orders stealth , the engies do their job good and the whole squad is invis .. and then u still get wiped by the enemy cuz they see ur exact position cuz someone felt the need to have his mini following around.

The solution is just to make them stealth with the player. 

The same goes for ranger pets--the fact they do not receive stealth when the ranger does is ridiculous.  

GW2 is an almost entirely visually oriented game--looks first, balance second.  So players should be able to display their minis and not have them ruin the competitive mode.

I didn't say that anyone said it. I rather made emphasis on they "ACT" like it is a crime. And, some new people does play with mini out in game. They don't know any better.

So instead of blaming player, may be blame game?

There’s nothing I enjoy more than a thief with a mini who thinks he’s hiding in stealth!  😂

this is just the all around best solution and most simple.
hell they fixed: these other 2 things that interacted with tracking in wvw
1:  the multi team guild tracking by doing this
for the longest time if you repped  (guild A) *insert tag* if you were on a different team you could just fallow your guildies around on the map using their "gold dot"  .... this no longer happen so why dont they just fix the minis to be visible only by team, 
2: friends list, still kinda wonky but now under "normal" conditions you cant just add a person form an enemy server to see which map they are on "IN WVW" it mostly only displays as online in wvw now 
 
tbh the fact that the dev's haven done this is just negligence on their parts

If you are on a linked server you can see what bl anyone is on regardless of whether or not they are on the opposing team.

thats why i said FL is wonky still but for the most part when you on 27 of the 51 servers you dont get to "just see" where someone on your friends list is  (and sometimes cause i have a 2 accounts ones on a host one is on a link,  i cant see where certain ppl are still .... like i have NA and EU friends and i cant see where any of the NA friends are or vice versa.

No its not. We joke about them but if you want to "fix" them the best and most simple solution is disallowing minis in competetive modes. A mini still has a a location that need to be tracked for all other players, animation ques, a crude "AI" running (well its following the player), all things utterly pointless and just adding to the network traffic and hogging server resources. It may be a very small impact, but its still there.

We.

Dont.

Need.

Minis.

In.

WvW.

Period.

Well, i can understand that ANet wants to allow people to use their minis wherever they want. because, ANet earns money with selling them. 
However, (as others said) minis bring some issues into a competetive mode. I know i´m repeating stuff that has been said already, but minis bring issues, that could be easily be solved (these issues being revealing stealthed groups and potentially impacting server performance). 
1. the most intuitive solution would be to simply stealth minis together with the player, alongside with all other minions/pets 
2. generally disable minis in WvW. this would be the easiest solution to implement
3. automatic un-equipping minis in WvW. This would at least solve the problem for people, that use Minis in PvE and sometimes simply forget to turn them off in WvW. However, it´s kind of redundant to solution 2, but would allow the usage of minis in WvW if the player is actively willing to.
