Is it just me or is the majority of this entire post just like 2 or 3 people going back and forth about the meanings of words rather than about the actual birthday present itself? Feels like 80% of the posts are all by the same 2 people.

There's a breakdown of posts on the top of every page. There was 175 replies made before mine. The top poster made 10 of them. The two next people made 6 each. You were one of those two people.

I am a longtime guildwars 2 fan.  I love the hard work the teams put into all the aspects and with shortcomings here and there it and knowing and understanding  that you can't please everyone all of the time. The  Birthday Cake Feast. This ought be reconsidered and converted into a additional stack as many have already indicated (similar to the guildhall buff) heck it even LOOKS like the guildhall buff as it is right now.  If you must take off the + cele stats thats gonna be ok but leave the XP as a bonus. Let me explain my thought on this. Those of us who have been here for 9 years...we have lived lives, been through so much loss, so many challenges so many defeats and victories. Its very rare to live and grow with a game and more rare to have longtime friends GOOD friends we have never met in life but love em all. Those of us 9 year veterans, ought to really have something which mirrors our OWN XP life with the game. let us wear it and share it. we want to be proud and show our pride. lets face it....ascended feast of Steak and asparagus..? or birthday cake...cant we have a fine steak AND cake?...please reconsider this take your time mull it over. Allow this years bday gift to truly reflect the experience we have acquired and learned through enjoying this great game.

I think the gifts themselves were OK, but they have some issues/bugs attached to them, that cause disappointment (apart from people generally preferring the past few year's presents in type, amount of gifts, etc.).

 

I personally would be totally fine with the 9th birthday gifts if:

1. They fixed the cake to actually overwrite malnourished
2. They fixed the cake to no longer be overwritten by the lower duration Birthday Blaster
3. (optional) They let the cake overwrite itself (i.e. restart the duration counter if interacting with the cake again)
4. The dyes were changed to be per character rather than per account
5. They fixed the title mishap (MO CM probably should have a better sounding title anyway)

 

I'm probably in the minority with this opinion. But I generally love "shareable" gifts (if that makes any sense at all) like the Birthday Blaster and now the cake. Popping a free feast in open world if neither me nor others have other feasts to put down seems neat to me.

I'm just happy theres an Account Anniversary rewards rather than only per Character.

As someone who recreated alot of characters and only have 1 left (8 years..) even though i have been playing for 9 is quite frustrating to have missed out on so many birthday gifts.

I really wish they brought back Character restoration. Even if its maybe 1 character per year per account. and even then i wouldn't be able to remember any of the old Names i had back then.

I did find it an extremely meh birthday.

I'm also very happy I still enjoy the game after so many years; ups, downs & all.

Whenever ANY post gets to back-and-forth bickering, I wish they'd take it to private chat.  However, I've also been guilty of this in the past, and now I see how annoying it is.

Anyway, I too am a bit puzzled/disappointed over the birthday/anniversary gifts, the dyes especially.  I'm not entitled in that I feel they should all be given to me with no effort or time  put into the game, but I do miss the past years' dye kits where each character with a birthday could pick one.  Failing that, I wish there was another method to acquire the Delectable Dyes beyond the one that we can choose -- achievements, Gem Store, trading post, something.  ANet, are you really so short on ideas for future anniversary gifts that you have to drag these dyes out for FIVE MORE YEARS??  Let that sink in -- five more years until we can pick the 6th and last dye in the new set.  Meanwhile for the next five years we can see those locked dyes in our dye panel with no way to unlock them.  This is like dangling a toy over a small child's head and saying, "See this?  Doesn't it look nice?  Well, you can't have it.  Maybe in five years."

Some of you need to realize the only reason this game is still pushing out content is because some of us spend hundreds of dollars a year to help support the game to make it possible for the ones who spend nothing to reap the rewards, so yes I'm pissed about the 9 year present.

This exactly. Im happy w the 9th gift other then these issues. That is, mainly:

 1) One dye per account and not per toon (totally spoils looking forward to the rest of my toons Bdays. 9th is one and done) because I already have 30 or so Bday boosts and over 150 celebration boosts that honestly will be useless other than Halloween and training new elites if I stay for EoD.

2) Bday cake is neat, but its almost useless due to overwrite issues. It cant even overwrite iteself or malnourished WTF seriously its laughably bad and looks utterly untested.

3) Fix the title which is the one thing Im sure Anet will actually get around to doing.

 

So here is my feeling about gw2 rn. 9th bday sucked, anniversary sale sucks so far, EoD beta showed me Virt sucks, Mesmer got 2 more unneeded nerfs and my ex main Mesmer has 6k hours on it, but I no longer use other than TL port, Escort Towers (port), Mathias (if we even need feedback cause FB is usually better for reflects too.)

Do you think their is any chance they remove the Birthday cake level 80 restriction? 

 

Right now I can not use it on my alts...however if someone else puts it down I can click on it on my alts. I have multiple level 80s I just enjoy leveling and would love not having to worry about food.

 

Please remove the restriction! Thank you!
