Move from Europe to NZ - looking for server

Hello,

 

I am playing GW2 since the beginning and I was playing in Europe servers.

Last year I was moving to New Zealand and I wanted to move all my characters to a different server to get a better ping.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any server in Australia or New Zealand.

I would like to ask why there is no servers in this area? and if there is any plane to add one?

When I lived in Thailand I used Dragonbrand and when I moved back to UK I switched to a Euro server but have now switched back as I could not join my guildies for activities when on the Euro server

There are no servers there because the cost doesn't justify the revenue from that area I would think. Don't forget there are about 25 million people total in NZ and AUS. The European market has about 550 million people and the US/CAN has about 370 million people.

 

They would have to place the servers physically in AUS or NZ and so I think it's just a matter of cost vs revenue.

Anyway I will try to see what ping I will get if I change the server to Dragonbrand

Your ping will only be impacted by your choice of region, not individual server. GW2 uses a megaserver model; the only split is between NA and Europe, where the backend servers reside. Your choice of server currently affects WvW matchups, but that too will disappear soon when Alliances go live.
