EoD Deluxe Edition's additional character slot when already having max character slots (71)

On reddit and here on this forum I've been reading that people who already have the maximum amount of character slots (71) before purchasing EoD's Deluxe or Ultimate edition, do not receive the advertised extra character slot. Looking at HoT and PoF, EoD should raise the character slot cap to 72. Why is this not the case? During the beta 3 additional characters were easily added to 74. Currently I have 71 characters, and I have purchased the EoD Standard edition. I'm thinking about upgrading to Deluxe. For me the only reason to go Deluxe would be getting the extra character slot. 

@Arenanet: Can you please raise the character slot cap to 72 for EoD?

Have you done a search here on the forums?

I thought I had read others did receive the additional character slot.

 

I suppose you could ask the CS Team via a support ticket.
