Ranked needs Afk Detection

Simply put, if a player has been in spawn for X amount of time, that player is automatically flagged as AFK regardless of whether or not they move or cast skills. 

If a player has not engaged in combat or contested, a node, or given any boons or buffs to allies for X amount of time, that player is also flagged as afk.

This is to prevent them from afking in a corner of the map. 

 

This should not apply to players who afk on currently held nodes. That's just the sidenoder life sometimes. 

 

This means that if you have quitters on your team who afk in spawn to type novels in chat, the game will detect them as afk, and all other players will not lose rating. Normal afk penalties apply. 

 

If they leave spawn and rejoin the match after being flagged as afk, they will still be penalized and other players will not lose rating. This is to prevent them from leaving spawn at the last minute to intentionally grief their teammates.

 

This won't prevent blowout games where players give up and afk after one lost mid fight, but it should at least make those losses more bearable.

Are you saying it wouldn't work because someone could just move the instant the game tries to flag them to trick the system?

If so that's a valid concern, and I addressed it in the very first sentence.
