I still have the same Problem with the DX11 beta which i had from the beginning.

When I turn on DX11 and play for a few minutes, for some reason my whole PC shuts down. Not every time, but most of the times.

Also I can't restart the PC immidiatly. I have to wait a minute or so and even cut the power to the PC before the computer starts again when I press the power button.

First thought was obviously temps. I switched my CPU cooler so I am sure its not about that. While playing GW2 the CPU is around the 68 °C and the graphics card in the 50 to 60 °c range.

Maybe the power supply? But how can it? It only happens in GW2 and only with the Beta on.

My System:

AMD Ryzen 5 5600x

AMD RX Vega 56

G.Skill Aegis 16GB Ram

Asrock B450 Pro4

Sometimes it feels like it happens when the camera gets stuck or has to do a wierd move, but I never was able to replicate it.

i dont know if its cause of dx but i cant play anymore. haha my toons log in are half dissapeared, i reinstalled the client and stil the same. But today, before this patch, i was playing eOD just fine.

Now i cant. Not on any of my 2 pcs 😞

Low priority resolution on this bug - it is "being worked on"

I enabled DX11 today, hoped into WvW, started gathering a node and crashed. I opted out of DX11 but I wanted to report this here as well (in addition to the ingame bug report on crash) because if the goal is to increase new player retention, activating a game crashing feature is not exactly the best idea...

Since the launch of EoD, I stick to using DX9 and I have no issue at all during every and many long heavy meta fights like the Battle of the Jade Sea where the map is hard full and there are plenty of flashy visuals through out all fights. Then, yesterday I thought I'll give DX11 a try because I read many issues have been fixed since the last patch. NOPE. In less than a day, I Dc'ed twice and once was a fatal error that auto shut down my game in the middle of a fight 😠 No more DX11 for me. And I read DX11 is going to replace DX9 soon? 😱

Does your graphics card support DX11?

I just want to add it's great to see some are still using a sound card. I'm using the AE-7 myself. For me at least mobo audio no matter how good it is cannot compare to a sound card, and external DACs I do no want, to much clutter on my desk I do not need 😊

Yes for sure. I didn't check and don't know how but my computer is less than a year old and stapled as a gaming computer. It cost quite a lot when we bought it then. The thing is i don't play other games on my comp so i have nothing to compare.

Oh boy... You can only be sure by checking your system specs, not by assuming due to age. 😉

[DX11] Decorating: Game Crash when opening Guild Deco Palette or Assembly Device

Error: D:\Perforce\Live\NAEU\v2\Code\Arena\Services\IdMgr\IdMgr.h(87)

This happens each and everytime I click on the Open Palette skill while decorating my Gilded Hollow guild hall and standing at a certain spot southwest of the Guild Mission Portal, with DX11 on.

(I've already sent an Error Report, but felt the need to post here as well.)

Side Note: In DX11, I've also had occasional crashes while trying to have a decoration item processed by double-clicking on it in the Assembly Device window. Furthermore, all decoration-related windows have a buggy background image (the semi-transparent background) -- it becomes strangely pixelated and looks broken. Perhaps this is related, because both things (the crash and the buggy background) occur when I open a decoration-related window.

Update #1 --> Next Crash: D:\Perforce\Live\NAEU\v2\Code\Arena\Engine\Gr\Bgfx\BgfxDraw.cpp(1110)

______________________________________________________________________________________

Update #2: I have three Ceramic Planters waiting in the Assembly Device. When I try to open the Device, the game crashes every single time. Had to switch to DX9 to be able to proceed.

...aaaaand the game closed during the fight against the Exalted Traitor in Tarir. Couldn't loot the chest once I got back.

Will go back to DX9 now.  There have been too many issues (decorating the guild hall, game closing without an error message, game crashing while trying to load assets etc) since the last patch.

I just had the crash when I tried to switch map instances (right click on a person on another map while in a squad) and when I tried to login, the game would crash before the character load screen with the .exe crash dump window.  This happened repeatedly so there was no way to login to the character load screen.  Fortunately this exact thing happened to me during the dx11 beta testing period a few months back, and I was able to resolve back then and again today with the same workaround.

-  These repairs did not work:  1) Relaunch with -repair extension.  2) Relaunch with -dx9 extension.  3) Have the game rebuild by deleting the relevant guild wars 2 files found under AppData/Local and AppData/Roaming.

-  This worked:  1)  Restart my computer under safe mode with networking, 2) Launch the game (Character login screen loads now with no error), 3) Go to settings and toggle off dx11 rendering.  Reboot the computer as normal, and no more login issues to GW2.

So basically DX11 still is buggy for me though it was toggled on and was stable for me for the better part of a month without this login error.  I guess back to DX9 until all the issues with DX11 is worked out.

So far i had a lot of crashes when i try to switch decorations (skill 6)  in our guild hall (isle of reflection). I made a post of about this:

I think i have send at least 10 crash reports to anet, but nothing got solved in the last 3 months...

Today i started to have problems with the assembly device. As soon when i try to use it, the game tries to show me which objects can be processed. But instead of that i crash to desktop (once i was able to send a crash report, once i didn't).

I asked our guild leader to help (i had an expensive decoration being stuck in there), but she crashed too 😞

I finally tried to disable DX11, restarted the game and everything (related to decorating the guild hall and using the assembly device) worked as intended. So i am pretty sure that my problems are related to DX11 being enabled (which makes me sad, knowing that it is out of beta) 😕

The guild hall user interfaces for approving guild upgrades at any NPC or processing guild items at the workshop will crash the game. I've submitted many crash reports on this. Although, sometimes the textures for the UI behave themselves and I can get through the bug okay. It's an exception error that involves "dimensions too small," "texture failed," and "Texture missing mip chain." Perhaps a texture isn't loading, causing the texture to be too small, then having the variable remain null until it crashes the game from a null exception?

The failure of loading the Guild Logo background image for the Assembly Device and Decoration Palette under DX11 still crashes the game 50% of the time (or even more often):

https://i.imgur.com/DjtpoSS.jpg

Please fix!

Edit @ silly reaction: There is nothing funny about it. These are facts. The game can't render the background image, which leads to a crash under DX11 when using the Assembly Device or opening the Guild Decoration Palette. :classic_rolleyes:

I am happy to report that I upgraded my ancient Radeon HD 7470 (supposedly a rebrand of one of the HD 6000 series) to an R7 240. Still pretty old. But with that prices currently - and electricity also costing a lot ... I do not want to go further.

This removed some crashes (that recently got more) - of the computer cause of old/bad hardware. (I think the old got broken.) With DirectX 11 except graphic bugs and my slow computer ... never really got crashes. I got a crash on closing the game though. (Where it wasn't realyl relevant anymore.) That crash report window. Other than that: None.

Got removed by upgrading my card - which still has pretty recent drivers (though this one got moved to legacy support as well by the manufacturer) - better than the previous card with super old drivers. 😄

Happy with AMD/ATI - always have liked those.

Some graphic bugs though I noticed as well. Posting in the other thread.

Can we get an update on which issues are being worked on for the next patch? I'd like to be able to use DX11 again without my game constantly crashing during GH decoration production and placement.

Edit post-patch: The Guild Logo background image is still not loading for the Assembly Device nor the Decoration Palette, leading to potential game crashes.

They did it, now dx11 is the default mode. 🤬

Can someone please provide me with an executable command to allow me to force the game to run dx9 mode ?

The game was crashing (on my computer) in dx11 mode before it became default, and it it certainly still crashes after.

i cannot play anymore and it actually got worse, as now it crashes before displaying the game launcher.

Or is there a config file that i could "notepad" to tick that dx9 box without running the game ?
