DX11 Crash Issue

hello all,

my dx11 crash happens on these sequence: Gixx: Durmand, unser Gründer, sagt: "Eure Macht ist nur so groß wie die Summe Eures Wissens."

 

it is repeatable!

i created a sylvari and he has no problems with the personal story yet. and i know from my old main (human) that she hadnt any problems with the personal story aswell.

 

please, take a look into it, arenanet-team!

ps: maybe it collides with the auction house and you could move the story-point-teleport away from that one? its only an idea because it also happens that the auction house is very slow.

Pretty sure you cannot count the number of players affected by this as:

1) I can hear the game sound in background, but the only screen available is the one provided here: https://imgur.com/a/gYr6FAk

2) Every player affected by this crash is certainly not using DX11, or left the game because they didn't know the crash was coming from this (since it was activated by default on new accounts, and new accounts don't stick with a crashing 10yo game).

I would really hate to stop playing the game, can you at least acknowledge that you are aware of this issue and working on a fix?

Hello to the Powers that Be:

 

I am playing on an iMac with bootcamp under Windows 10. I navigated per instructions to dxdiag and under the 'features levels' it says dirext 11.0 up to dirext 12 if I'm reading it correctly. When I log in, everything is jerky in motion. I have 8 characters. Only one is level 80. I tried logging in with different characters. Some did go to the opening scene, however, these were stagnant as various parts of the scene began appearing very, very, slowly. Then it would go white and the GW2 program stopped running and I was back to the Window 10 screen. Some characters never made it back to opening. The GW2 program stopped rendering at the first scene where all 8 characters appear for selection. And the scene behind the boxes for selection was extremely jerky. Then it would go white and GW2 stopped playing.

 

I apologize for the above description, but I am not familiar with workings of computers. I just use a few programs to accomplish what I need to do or play GW2. For now, I presume you are fixing the difficulty and won't attempt to log in for another week. I with you luck and good skills to solve the difficulty.

 

Thank you for all that you do making GW2 a fun, interesting game for everyone, even if they do not like to 'fight'.  Happy New Year ArenaNet.

Why major bugs and glitches reported long ago and today many players are still experiencing the same issues? Unfixed reported bugs and glitches keep accumulating over the years and I wonder how much longer can this game stayed playable if ANet continue to ignore them?

DX11 still crashes game after so many patches 🤦‍♀️ I stopped using DX11 after it crashed my game 2-3 times in just one hour. Never have crashes with DX9. And now the developers is forcing us to use DX11 👏Yes I did check and my system is using DX12, so nothing to do with minimum system requirements or what not . C'mon on ANet 😠

Game started crashing upon viewing certain player models after the last patch, on DX11.  Already send a bunch of crash reports in about it.  Seems like it might be related to seeing the fractal legendary backpack?  The game doesn't crash immediately, it keeps running for a bit and the "send report" menu appears.  You can even keep playing for a short time before it locks up.  Clearing the cache didn't help.  Switching back to DX9 stopped the crashes.

Have been playing for almost a year on Dx11 without any hitches and already dumped a TON of money here!

Your new renderer almost broke my game.

I have to go back to Dx9 now AND switch of high-res textures, both general setting and the characters.

Game looks dogshit now, thanx!

And you better not be dumping Dx9 completely, NOT an option!

Also the game is MUCH more resource hungry now, had to double my pagefile to stop THAT crash.

Win7 system here too.

This is still happening after the latest hotfix, switched to DX11, loaded Misklock Sanctuary and got the crash report popup.  Sent in the crash report and switched back to DX9.

Crashes are way more frequent than ever. Especially annoying if you are in these unskippable slow walking cut scenes that take forever to finish and then you have to do that kitten all over again because of these crashes. 

Was such a good idea to have these in the game. People love to see the same kitten over and over again.

I'm using DX11 since it was first introduced, and except few minor visual glitches, didn't have much problems.

However, since around 2 months ago, game started crashing pretty often, with logs like these;

If I have to turn off something, I will, just need ideas if someone else had similar problem and solved it.

Windows 10, radeon 6600XT, and -repair already tried

 

Edit: switched back to dx9, and crashed immediately, so maybe its not even dx11 related

What is the RAM configuration of people crashing?

What RAM Speed, and how many DIMMs are in the system?

If you have 4 DIMMs with XMP Enabled, then the Devs cannot help you until you remove two of those DIMMs or turn XMP off, as 4 DIMM XMP is buggy with almost all CPUs and MOBOs and has been for years - this includes the newer DDR5 systems.  Those 4 RAM slots are practically for show unless you're willing to run at base JEDEC Speeds (only something I'd do in a DDR5 system, as DDR4 JEDEC is 2133 MHz).

XMP issues often manifest as application crashes, and everything can seem fine as long as you aren't running a game or other application that taxes the memory controller or RAM modules.  So, it may feel fine when using the PC for productivity, but when running software like DaVinci Resolve and After Effects or games like GW2 and World of Warcraft, you can get application crashes.

This often masquerades as a software issue, as the OS and PC itself will often not crash, just the application you're running/game you're playing.

Some reports of crashing seem to coincide with the decrease in component prices, so I'm wondering if - perhaps - more people are attempting to add RAM to their systems by slotting in more DIMMs; or buying higher speed RAM and enabling XMP on Motherboards/CPU combinations that don't actually support those speeds, or don't support OC'd RAM at all.

(Keep in mind that using XMP - if it results in any other component failures - will void your warranty as it is basically a "One Button Overclock").

Additionally, CPU Memory Controller quality varies, and RAM that works with one CPU may not work well with another, so this also affects people who upgrade CPUs.  If you recently upgraded your CPU and started noticing increased game crash incidents, this is something you have to factor in.
