I've had a few crashes, mainly on Pinata and other world bosses like LLA.

The one thing that really triggers me is sometimes while running DX11, the game will suddenly dip down and lock itself between 29-31 FPS for a few seconds, then adjust itself back to 60 eventually. Seems to happen more and more I play the game. Anyone else encounter that?

DX11 is okay-ish but I'll go back to using DX9_12 for now. More stable FPS and zero crashes.

Those of you who are crashing without the circumstances I listed above, thank you for letting me know. I'm passing the information on!

I have neither 30 character slots nor the DX11 enabled and yet the game crashed twice in the past hour at the worst moments.

I've got two crashes in Ranked PvP Match in Eternal Coliseum. And to add because of that I got dishonored ;(

To add, yesterday, when I was using Monitor with 1366x768 resolution I didn't had any crashes, but today, when using 1920x1080 resolution monitor I got crashes very often.

PS. I'm using Windowed Fullscreen mode.

System:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER and Latest Nvidia drivers. Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor. 

Settings:
8 character, 2560x1440 fullscreen, no add-ons no overlays. Discord not turned on.

Situation:
Game freeze within 15 minutes with audible music in play. Usually in battle and I have to force close. Can't see or send in report. 

Update:
Got latest Directx from microsoft then restarted comp. Casual moving around, fighting with bots in PVP lobby with Beta toons seem fine. Go to PVE with main toons and game hangs within minutes

For what it's worth .... It looks like I can play a little longer with DX11 enabled after a fresh system restart, but it will ultimately end in the game freezing with audio still running in the background (as mentioned by a lot of people in this thread).

It's also remarkable that with DX11 enabled the game not only runs a lot smoother but it also uses significantly less CPU.  Roughly 25% less on my system.

Hi, hey fwiw, I had a lot a freezes too, so I tried a bit of troubleshooting.

I wasn't successful with drivers settings, so I tried some steps in GW2 Graphics Options :

Between each steps I played some world boss, important events, gathering, daily stuff.

1 - Best Performance + Full Screen 6880 x 2880 (nvidia DSR)

2 - Character Model Limit to Highest
3 - Ambient Occlusion + Best Texture Filtering + Depth Blur + High-Res Textures
4 - Shadows to Ultra
5 - Reflection to All
6 - Textures to High
7 - Animation to High
8 - Environment to High
9 - LOD Distance to High

10 - Shaders to Medium  =>>>>> Freeze

 

Might be something, might be not.

Quick bug report - The story mission "Hidden Aracana" is almost entirely bugged on DX11, seeing through the ground/speech bubbles being empty, minimap and other UI elements fading randomly and curiosly mostly when looking at the story characters/speech bubbles.

Otherwise I'm very happy so far with DX11, but I noticed the first like 2 seconds after each loadscreen the the fps is a bit low and then starts to increase dramatically, but that may be just normal (like 50 --> 100+ FPS)

While in EotN, my game freezes moments after loading into the map. On any other map I can mostly play without issues (I didn't have any visual glitches for example), but have infrequent freezes (could be hours in between). Thing is: when the game just freezes and doesn't crash, it doesn't generate any crash reports. How do I report this issue to Anet?

DX11 working great in most zones except for Shiverpeak areas.  With screen set to windows, my screen will freeze upon performing one or two actions in a zone, like mining a node or mounting/dismounting (Frostforge Sound and Lake Doric - DRM).  The same just happened with Fullscreen, but I lasted a good 10 minutes in the area before it crashed.

Haven't had crashes in other areas, including WvW which I can play for over hours with DX11 beta, but these PVE areas consistently crash for me with DX11 beta enabled.

Might be something, might be not.

Medium shader freezing might be a thing. I've had zero freezes today and yesterday night with High setting.

I just tried switching to Medium, and had immediate freeze.

 

So not only Medium shaders have visual issues in DirectX 9 and 11 (Cairn raid boss model being messy, darkened gold shine in Tarir and Gilded Hollow), they also cause instability in the latter.

The game freezes after a few minutes without any significant action on my part, for example while waiting for Pinata or Tarir Meta. 

 

My PC: i5-6600k with 4.1 Ghz all-core, GTX960 4GB, Windows 10 professional 21H1. Internet connection: Download 58.96 Mbps Upload 12.66 Mbps. M.2 Storage and Corsair DIMM 32 GB DDR4-3200 Kit.

 

No problems with DX-9.

Might indeed be a thing. 
I'm normally running "Shaders Medium", because I don't like the glossy character look with "Shaders High". But due to your comment I'm currently running DX11 with "Shaders High" and did not have a single freeze for roughly an hour. Including open world events with many other players around.

But I'm now back to DX9 + "Shaders Medium" since "Shaders High" not only makes my characters' skin appear glossy but also ruins the look of various armor skins by making them overly shiny (too much contrast).

I submit bug reports when the Anet crash window pops up, but most of the time it's just a hard freeze / lock up and windows will just kill the process.

 

Windows 10, GeForce GTX 1050Ti (drivers updated last week). I play windowed fullscreen in 1920x1080. No addons.

 

75% of the lockups/crashes are happening during large meta events. Specifically Auric Basin I just seem to crash over and over again during the loot rooms after the meta is over. Ley Line Anomaly is always fine for some reason which is a ton of people.

Mine just crashed out of thin air on 27/09/2021. I did opt for the dx11 beta. Ran smooth until the previous mentioned date. I can not even get into the character screen until it crashes again.

I tried the -dx9 command line and was able to get into the character select screen. I lowered all my graphics options. The frame rate that I got was still only 12 fps ????

That was not even playing. And then the game still crashes after I select a character.

Same here. Also, I don't have any add-ons or overlays (not even Discord which I can't use).

Adding -dx9 at startup worked for me. I just hope that my client won't crash this way when they'll force DX11 for everybody...

Im having the same problems i had from last patch. I closed the game a couple minutes short of update in anticipation of a patch. after 11am central time i opened up my regular launcher and launcher auto closes. i tried several different commands, -dx9, -repair, nothing worked. I deleted the .dat file, still, nothing worked. I totally uninstalled the game and deleted all folders and went to do a fresh install and now the game installer launcher is doing the same exact thing. Opens for 1 or 2 seconds then closes out. Please help. This is my day off work and this is beyond frustrating.
