(Mirage) Chaos Vortex Bug , Sept 21 2021 [Merged]

The staff mirage ambush is bugged as of Sept. 21 2021. (Or stealth nerfed)

 

To gain alacrity and might, the Mirage has to hit their target with Chaos Vortex while also having the target be in range of the new blue circle indicator.

 

The following situations will not grant  alacrity + might:

1. Using Chaos Vortex without a target (this includes just standing idly and using the ambush skill for "free" boons)

2. Hitting a target with Chaos Vortex but the target is not in vicinity of the blue circle indicator

3. Hitting a foe with Chaos Vortex that is within the blue circle indicator but is not the target.

Can confirm alacrity got really stingy with the last patch.

Tested it out and only hitting your target within 360 range will grant alacrity, although I have a hunch even this sometimes doesn't work properly. I've had fights where I barely received any alacrity and I'm somewhat pozitive I was in range, but I might be wrong.

The skill tool tip still has the range labeled as "Ally Boon Radius", not "Boon Trigger" or something, so I hope it's a bug and not intentional - it feel pretty bad.

Also running into this issue. If this change is intended, please update the tooltip to reflect that the boon application is no longer around the caster and instead around the target of the ambush attack. I hope this is unintentional because it's fairly annoying to not be able to use out of combat whenTides of Time, Well of Recall, and Orders from Above all apply alacrity out of combat. Until we get some official confirmation one way or the other from ANet, I guess Alacrajs are going to be working out their legs more than usual!

if this is intentional by anet.   I will be leaving the game for good.   The nerfs to mirage is just ridiculous at this point and a sign anet does not give any cares to its player base in large.   Anet has singled out every skill, trait, and utility to the mirage class in large and small nerfs.   This is not how you deal with balancing issues, anet you've gone out of your way at this point to make the entire Mesmer class useless in every game mode.   Figure your kitten out already or get rid of the class all together and stop wasting my time, that will otherwise be spent playing New World out of spite.   Will be downloading new world regardless after this post, cause i know you wont do the right thing.

Haven't been able to do raids because of this bug since Tuesday.

There is a Ranger bug fix on 21st, and its a pretty minor one. I find it funny that it gets priority over something as game breaking as this. That is if its a bug. If its a feature, then I'm just leaving the game as well. Alacrity mirage is my last anchor to the game and the only character I play. After hundred of nerfs to Mesmer, its what's left.

I feel this. I've been hiding on beta characters doing testing to give feedback reports as my main character right now is an alac mirage for open world and I hate play it right now. I don't even wanna do dailies on it that don't involve fighting because it feels disconnected. I also thought it would have been hotfixed instantly. I really hope this isn't a feature they've added that they forgot to document on the tooltip or I'ma be really sad.

Considering that the aoe lines which they just added are still around the player & not your target (where the alac aoe is now originating from), & that the aoe alac+might around the target works regardless of range as long as you have a target, I think it's safe to say this is a bug. I of course could be wrong, but I think this is an unintended consequence of how they redid the AoE to get it to have an outline around you (it's working like a druid CA skill with might kinda)

I mean, the tool tip still says around the caster so this can't be intentional right?

Please please fix this. Or at least have the boon circle around the target and not the caster. I literally have no idea who is getting boons anymore and when my targetting sometimes randomly changes, boons could be given in some random place. Or if you cast it without a target, it doesn't seem to give any boons at all - with the random targetting breaks that sometimes happen in raids, this is pretty rubbish. And to have it be stealth, I really hope it's a bug! Especially as the tooltip says "allies near the caster gain boons" which is not the case atm.
