Please put an end to bauble farming

You're letting people optimize the fun out of the game. The verdant brink meta never gets done because the map is full of people sitting AFK. There could be plenty of people interested in the full meta event, but you'd never get enough to do with all the maps full of AFK bauble farmers. Please nerf the rewards for that.

I miss times when i could get VB meta to t5 several times a day, it's probably unpopular opinion but i think that first part of VB meta is best meta-event in a game for a player that want be actively engaged into gameplay in open world. So yes, i agree, fix bauble farm. And btw put unique infusion as possible reward for T5, with a very low drop rate of course.

Doesn't baubles rotate maps each week? So next week no bauble farmers will be there. Can someone explain exactly what they doing that makes this so easy or more of an issue lately. Are they parking revs auto buffing getting credit like drizzlwood for the yak escorts

A full VB meta requires participation from  everyone on the map to defend points, finish events, etc.  10-20 people afking in a spot can stop the VB meta from getting to the  maximum tier.

Also, regardless of whether or not it helps the meta, anything that lets you AFK and farm gold is unhealthy for the game. Even if you aren't AFK, which is technically bannable but seemingly unenforced, it's a mindless activity. Players will always optimize the fun out of a game if given the chance. So encourage players to move onto more engaging content and just nerf the hell out of bauble farming.

It does require a substantial number of players but nowhere near an entire map.
 

Many of the defend points can be defended by a single player as they use the endless wave mechanic where the next wave doesn’t spawn until the previous wave has been defeated. Simply leaving a weak enemy alive from one wave would allow you to kite it around until the defend timer ends. This also works elsewhere in the game where you need to cap a point. You also don’t need to defend every single camp as there is a decent buffer. The various other events during the night meta can also be used to increase the bar.

I know what it requires, because I've done it enough times. Contributed to one not that long ago, but I'm not going out of my way to do that, because I don't need to. To get max tier VB meta event, you'll need to find/start a squad earlier, a full map isn't exactly needed. Not only that, but VB bauble farm more often ISN'T available on that map than it is.

Still not my main point. Bauble farming isn't healthy for the game no matter where it's being done.

It was your main point when you've started the thread, you've just changed it now because you understood what you said isn't true. So I was responding to the thread, not the later-changed point you're making now.

My first sentence was "you're letting people optimize the fun out of the game". That was my main point. 
My second sentence was about verdant brink. I put them in that order for a reason. I realize that the way I worded it is easily misconstrued, but now that I've explained it please don't call me a liar.

mmos "let people optimize" almost any part of the game, starting with builds they're playing. This is hardly an argument for a change.

"optimizing fun out of the game" just seems like your way of saying "people don't do what I want them to do". Also hardly an argument, because it can be said by anyone about anything.

 

...and I never called you a liar, so no problem.

I am just responding to what you're saying. Not attacking anything or anyone, even if you don't like what I'm saying, which you have every right to do. Disagreement isn't an attack.

Maybe start with explaining what "optimizing fun out of the game" is supposed to mean here. Clearly, people perceive "fun" on their own terms, so just because they're not trying to farm max tier VB meta every day, doesn't mean it's because of bauble farm or because they're "optimizing fun out of the game". Maybe they're just playing content they find more fun to play instead. If you want to make the claims you did above, then you'll need to base them on something. For now you didn't, hence why I view it as described above.

It's all good and cool in an ideal world, but we live in a plain reality where lots of players die from Tarnished Traitor's Erruption. I for example didn't know there is "endless wave mechanic" used for some camps.


The thing is, both bauble farm and VB meta are good examples of "optimising fun out of game". VB night meta lasts 40 minutes and most of it is actual gameplay unless you liching, while TD and AB each lasts around 20 minutes with only 5-7 minutes of actual gameplay and the rest is either afking or looting. Aside from it unlike in any other HoT map you can't buy keys (crowbars) for map currency, so you actually have to do pre events to be able to loot airship cargo. On top of it put that it is expected from player to act independently rather than follow tag, many players don't like this, for some reasons they prefer to stick with huge zergs. All these things to get Bladed Armor Box, which to be honest is pretty good reward worth of 8-10 gold alone, but problem is it can't be converted to gold, more or less experienced players don't need it and new players most probably don't even know about it neither do they have enough experience and knowledge to get to T4 if not backed by experienced players.


I would like to see how popular TD and AB metas would be if they wouldn't have infusions as possible rewards and if players wouldn't be able to buy keys for currency, i don't even say about time investment and required level of engagement.

And how much gameplay/time is required for Dragon’s Stand?  Just because some metas are longer than others doesn’t mean that there’s a problem.

you're probably mis-reading the post. It's the AFK farming part that's bannable (using software to buff things and get you credit), not doing it normally.

OH great ... then what you should be doing is reporting the people and solving your problem ... if in fact what you say is true.

Well i will speak for EU, on EU Dragonstand isn't nearly as popular as TD and AB, judging by lfg there is probably never more than one map that will be completed at time and only near evenings, unlike TD and AB you won't find DS meta at early morning. I think there is two main reasons why people still do Dragon's Stand. The first reason is cristalline ore, it is needed for Gift of Maguuma mastery and to buy some stuff from DS vendors and DS meta is the only way to farm it. The second reason is that you need completed DS meta to get full map completion, just for the sake of map completion or for Gift of the Jungle. There is for sure some people just hanging out, but if not for people who go there on purpose i doubt it would be any more popular than VB meta nowadays, and DS meta is still zerg friendly.

My post was in response to you comparing gameplay lengths of the metas. You’re changing directions by now speaking about reasons why players do a particular meta.
