Season 29: No more DuoQ and class select

3 suggestions for next season:

  • Next season should be SoloQ only. No more DuoQ. DuoQ is an unknown parameter as it combines different variables making it a total unknown package for the matchmaking as it lacks the algorithm to understand human behavior and team work/external communication
  • Block the possibility to change class in Ranked and AT: you play the class you queue with
  • Unique class in (Ranked) matches (no 2 necro's or 2 thieves are w/e, if possible due to pool availability. Perhaps make queue time longer to avoid this)

What will these changes give us:

  • Better matchmaking due to little to no matchmaking manipulation e.g:
    • queue'ing as Warrior so enemy team will get Warrior. Then switch to Scourge or w/e stronger giving your team the upper hand in team composition (yes, you can manipulate matchmaking this way as it tries to search for same class as your team)
  • No carries from DuoQ (complete random rating)
  • No class stacking like 5 thieves, 5DH's, .. (even if they are just memes for us, veterans, they are most likely a nuisance for new players, scaring them away)
  • Better and/or enjoyable matches due to (almost) same composition

Bonus suggestions:

  • next off-season should let us try Conquest without downstate. Spicing up current meta.
  • use off-season to test balance patches for 2 weeks. If they are mostly okay/accepted, you can implement them right before start of next season (go crazy with the balance, let us try to have something entirely different)

No, next season and from there on should be teams only. Can't form a team, can't play ranked.

90% of ranked problems will be solved.

The other 10% will come into focus and then can be taken care of much easier because they are empowered by the other 90% that will be eliminated with teams.

You see, duo q once before was already removed, and it did not increase population nor game quality.

I did try suggest that a while ago but got shot down as the pool isnt big enough and honestly, its not. We have so many solo players that Ranked 5v5 premade would just be same teams again and again.

Dont get me wrong: Im all for bringing back Team Ranked but I believe the current pool doesnt allow for that so we have to work with the tools we have left.

That outlook is flawed, no offense. The reason why the pool "looks" small is because so many people have quit when 5v5 ranked was removed. The truth is that before it was removed, there were enough TEAMS of players to encompass an entire leaderboard of TEAMS competing for top 10 ESL placement. I'm talking rank 1 down to rank 1000, that many TEAMS. The game's population very quickly plummeted at the exact point when they removed 5v5 ranked.

Guarantee you that if there were a 5v5 game mode to keep queueing all day, you'd see a lot of players come out of the woodwork to play again, especially with a new expansion coming. If you haven't drawn this conclusion yet from the forum, there is a very large amount of player base asking for 5v5.

Many of the active players are not playing the game mode because it is this cess pool.

25+ seasons shows that solo-ing a team based game mode has only led to bots, match manip, win traders, and toxic dissatisfaction.

There are many dormant players who would come back for team ranked (and only team).

You surely have at least noticed the active players in unranked that never play ranked anymore, even the vocal ones on this board.

You honestly think bringing back meaning to a "pvp guild" wouldn't attact some old and new players?

What has been being done has absolutely failed.

I know it will be rocky at re-launch, but addressing the competitive exploits immediately can improve its success chances.

They need to fix those exploits as they come up, and not season to season.

The highest level game modes in PVE require teams, and the competitve game mode in spvp should be the same way.

We know the anti-social players can form teams.

100% this, if 5v5 were to come back I would def play and my friends that stopped playing would comeback for sure.

Theres no reason solo q and team q could be placed at the same time. If they build it they will come! I would for sure.

This beta proved to us they can't lock char swap, you just have to do it before you actually get in a match

 

It would be less efficienty as you select the class you gonna play without knowing you possibly have 3 counters in the other team

GW2 WAS the game balanced around team play in vanilla days. But since HoT most meta builds have built-in team in 1 player. Last time we have something close enough to TEAM play was scourge+fb meta. And most people hated it.
