Do you like the name Untamed?

Doesn't seem to make much sense to me. I get it, like to be untamed is to be wild, dominant, not subdued in any way. But there are much better antonyms to Tame, such as; Feral, Savage, Wild, Bestial, Brute. Plus, how do you become Untamed? Once you are tamed, you can't really become untamed again, to tame something is to literally break it.

Untamed is kind of a weird choice for a spec that revolves around the deep bond between you and a pet - which you've tamed.

While I couldn't care less about the spec or its name, I have to defend the name at this point:

  1. Untamed is a legitimate choice for a name, even if it's not a noun per se. In poetry, literature and movies you will find tons of names that are "adjectives" - examples for the latter are The Expendables, The Incredibles, The Crazies, etc.

  2. "Untamed" does not refer to the pet! It refers to the Ranger themselves, who is untamed in their connection to the wilds in which they reside and which they protect, namely the Kurzick forest, now a wildland which the Untamed protects and from where they and their pet draw their power.

Whoever came up with all the new elite spec names tried to be so original that they all sound like crap. Well maybe SpectRe is the exception.

Yeah the ones they ripped from Mass Effect aren't bad--Harbinger, Specter, etc.

Interesting that all your examples are plural used to describe a group.

But no, there’s nothing wrong with using an adjective per se. It does stand out as the only one in all the especs though.

ArenaNet: This spec has "...more direct control over the default abilities of each pet..."

Also ArenaNet: This spec will be called "The Untamed" and primary ability will be called "Unleashed".

Players Response: We think it will be "Unused" and it is "Underwhelming".
