They removed mantra channeling to make firebrand raiders happy, but they didn't do anything about fixing the charge recovery time?!? Now mantra of pain is a 20 second cooldown spell that hits for 600?!? Simonoly.4352 Posted November 1, 2021 Share Posted November 1, 2021 Yes you also can't use Mantra of Pain or Distraction now without facing your opponent straight on and, as they're instant cast skills your character will not turn to face your target if you use them without moving. The result of that is, if a Thief or any other class jumps on top and starts spanking you to pieces in WvW or PvP, you simply won't be able to use your mantras until you move away, reposition and look them dead in the eye again. draxynnic.3719 Posted November 5, 2021 Share Posted November 5, 2021 They basically forgot that mesmer and firebrand mantras just weren't intended to operate the same. Firebrand mantras were designed as something you pretty much never wanted to have to renew in combat - the final charge was a bit stronger, but that was on the theory that you needed that final push to finish the fight (or stay alive) and afterwards you wanted to get out of combat to recharge and renew. Cooldowns on initial charges were low, but the recharge before you could renew was high. Mesmer was the opposite - high recharge for charges, low (or nonexistent) recharge for renewal, you had a potent effect proc on renewal, and the idea was that you wanted to expend the charges and then renew in combat (ideally with some sort of cover for the renewal, but nevertheless...). So where removing the need to renew was a buff and QoL improvement for firebrand, it was a stiff nerf for mesmer mantras. What they probably need to do is recognise that if they're going to normalise mantras, they should go all the way. Mesmer mantras should get a third charge and have their charge cooldowns reduced to be comparable to their firebrand equivalents. 7 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
