Another MAT Without Warriors

3rd consecutive MAT with zero warriors in high level play.  And they've been absent or nearly absent in the MATs before that for some time.

What's it gonna take, ANet?  How many MATs without warriors do you need before you start realizing there is a problem here?

Minion mancer's still fine,  by the way, and well-represented despite 3 consecutive nerfs.  Player vs Petting Zoo is alive and well.

Huuh.

The real deal with the question posed is: warrior currently has 3 especs that can take up to 3 roles in a pvp setting. SpB can be a sidenoders bruiser, Core functions better as a roamer and Berserker can be an effective teamfight er with high dmg.

But, other specs are simply better. Core ranger stronger than core warrior, Prot Holo stronger than SpB, Reaper far stronger than berserker.

Consecutive nerfs have made the class unappealing to high end comp players. Skill alone basically, cannot carry warrior up there. And that's just SpB cause no one would ever try their chance in a MAT with the other 2 specs.

If no one can win an MAT as a warrior filling their role, then something is going on. Perhaps the nerfs were too hard. Which means that the more we see no warriors in MATs, the class is still subpar in all its roles compared to other choices. Let's check:

Guardian: core is essential in winning MATs.

Rev: Herald and Renegade (less so Renegade now) are also essential in high end comps.

Engi: Holo is a beast and you won't be surprised to see a team even run 3 Holos.

Ranger: isn't that much needed in mat finals, but is a very solid option with core to compete. Soulbeast also sees more use in mat.

Thief: Daredevil is too valuable in the hands of good players to not have in finals.

Necro: best corrupted, AoE denial spec. Can dmg and support. Core Necro with minions brings half more party in your team, Scourge can give out barrier, Reaper has the access to the necessary effects to make cleaving possible in team fight scenarios (Headbutt vs chill to the bone, pulsing stab->AoE fear, good cleave, another big cc in shourd 5, good corrupt etc) .

Ele: in the same boat as warrior. But capable of playing at least 1 condi build far better. Fire Weaver is very bunkery. Tempest auras just give it that one extra feature to put it over other support like specs except for guardian. Rare, but can be seen in MAT and finals. Lakers used a bunker ele last 2 mats no?

Mesmer: the interrupts it can pack for single target spikes make it one of the most successful chasers after thief. Needs skill to be played in high levels but will be occasionally seen in top mat levels. It has a tool that allows it to be there.

Especs I didn't mention suffer from lacking a role or being unable to fill that role good enough, like warrior's entirety.

That's what we must keep from this. We ask for no nerfs, we ask from the balance team to check out the Warr sub and decide what to do with our beloved melee class.

Berserker has been in a great place with strong support, power, and condition builds that are successful in all content.

"Correct."

Enough people do MATs for them to run, let's not do backflips trying to miss the point. There is no reason not to use MATs as a sample set to determine what people are and are not considering useful in scenarios where matches approach reliance on skill and coordination (Or, if you fancy, class brute strength).

MAT presence does not give a complete picture of the status of the meta, but it gives one clear enough to determine what people think is incredibly strong, and what people think is incredibly weak by presence or absence respectively.
