Should have been staff support this round, or dual 900 range pistols with quickness dps support.

I'd love to see them do ranged support staff and rework banners as utilities for a support spec.  This would make warrior dps more fun to play because banners would be in the Elite Support spec.

Staff Warrior really isn't interesting for me, like a magical Warrior wouldn't really fit the whole aesthetic (Too close to Guardian ? Or Revenant, like Renegade call upon a realm in war for it's abilities, the Charr revolution)

And a martial Staff has already been done with the Thief/Daredevil, there isn't really any reasons to give the Warrior a staff nor a scepter/focus

That's on the assumption that Staff Warrior has to inherently be a Martial Artist or a Magic-User, concepts that have already been previously explored.

There's lots of ways to flavour the thematics of literally anything - just as an example I can imagine Staff Warrior as a Warlord and the Staff's Burst skill draws out a huge banner fluttering in the wind SFX as it applies boons to allies with a rallying cry.

I mean a warrior support could get into the chakra release them, but if they did that we'd end up with a focus.

Like this idea. One of the struggles for warrior is how to implement the missing weapons logically into their theme. Shortbow and staff are easy, but Scepter and focus are quite hard to think up concepts for on this class.

The chakra release theme sounds pretty good for focus, so big plus for being a great idea how to fit this weapon into the class.

And it would be the third time we got on OH weapon. No thanks. The idea would work with staff though, they'd just be lame and give us a focus instead.

But still we got "magical bullets"...

Staff  support warrior could've been ik the line with banners. You know, that one thing we ve been stuck with in group content since release. Maybe its about time we have at least a few tools to play that support role... warrior is so far the only class that has no diversity in pve.

My thought wouldnt be magic, but rather a Martial Leader calling charges and directing support.  Perhaps even location targeted utilities.

Warrior could get the Spector treatment or something. I see many people complaining about how the list of Warrior elite specs seem to stay very conservative with the stock Warrior thematically and role wise. But a purely Support based Elite Spec could really shake things up on a Warrior.

Imagine a Support Warrior Elite Spec that puts it on par with Firebrand and Heal Scrapper in terms of support quality.

Would that be appealing to the Warrior player base?

My only request

Is for power builds to work

In Guild Wars conquest

-A haiku about warrior mains

I'm only speaking about pvp here because that's what I do when I'm not hitting AI for shinies but

Warrior cant even warrior in PvP. Can we get warrior to warrior in PvP before we do anything avant garde? Trying to put a new spin on warrior is missing the point. A lot of us aren't bored with the archetype and just want it to work, and floating "new and improved" warrior versions when the ones we have don't work to begin with is immensely exhausting.

Scepter would be easy, just chuck it like a land spear, then our chakra release could be mantras that get stronger the more adrenaline we have when we use them, and you totally could do support like that.

Why not simply use the Spear or the Trident on land then ? (Though I want to see the Trident as a melee option, but maybe after a Shortbow spec)

Another consideration here is that "Warrior with a little bit of magic" seems to be a legitimate theme for an elite specialisation. Berserker adds fire and earth magic effects, and spellbreaker adds effects normally more associated with mesmer and guardian.

Warrior/monk might be a little too close to guardian, but what about warrior/dervish with a wind prayers theme? Sweeping attacks with the staff, healing nearby allies, and providing quickness and swiftness (on top of boons already available to warrior).

To me, a staff in a warrior's hands would end up being another melee 2H power DPS weapon knowing Anet.

What it could do would be something like:

AA: basic 3 skill chain. You fling air forward with each swing by the shear force of your might. 900 range, last strike is a small AoE. Heal in the area of the last strike for small amounts.

2: Use the butt of the staff to fling debris forward along a path. Something like CoR, but lower in damage. Struck foes are blinded for 1s. 4s CD in PvE, 8s in PvP/WvW. Again, with the intent that it isn't some noob slayer DPS skill. 900 range.

3: A 2s block stance that flips over to another skill that is more powerful per strike blocked. 12s CD on the block in PvE, 15s in PvP/WvW. Flipover does moderate damage without a block, but can become a powerful spike skill of enough attacks are blocked. Flipover is a 900 range air burst. Grant Fury to allies in the area when you use the flipover. Flipover caps at a 4.0 modifier in PvE, 2.0 in PvP/WvW and in both cases starts at a 1.0 modifier, with 0.25 gained per block.

4: Twirl the staff to create a vacuum. 600 range PBAoE pull. Enemies are pulled 600. 3/4s cast time. 20s CD. Enemies are slowed, chilled, and weakened for 5s. Allies in the area lose 2 conditions.

5: Maelstrom: Create a storm at your location that travels forward. Ground Targeted line AoE. Starts at your location moves along the line, but has a wide hitbox (300 range). Enemies struck are dazed (1s) and blinded (1s). Has a high coefficient in PvE (4.0), but something like a 1.5 coefficient in PvP/WvW. Allies in the storm's path lose 3 conditions. 20s CD.

The traitline could have traits that causes allies that lose conditions to instead convert them into boons. Other traits that grants resistance, protection, and/or resolution when a condition is removed. Other traits could grant barrier when removing conditions. CDs and proper durations or scalings would apply of course.

Utilities would be prayers, and would focus on applying conditions on foes while also granting boons/removing conditions to allies in the affected areas. Not going to go through a list, but there should be conditions that bleed, burn, torment targets in pulsing AoEs, just not all in one prayer. Boons gained would be things like alacrity, swiftness, might, or regeneration and not all in the same prayer unless it is the elite prayer.

Adrenaline becomes Chakra, capped at 40, and is gained 1 for 1 in the same manner. The traitline would also have a trait that grants Chakra per condition cleansed from allies. There would also be a trait that grants Chakra per condition inflicted on a foe. Chakra Releases all have their own CD, Chakra is consumed 10 at a time.

F1-F4 become Chakra Release skills, each counts as a T1 burst.

F1 is Banish, low-ish damage skill with a low CD (4s) and deals damage versus a single target. If it strikes an active 'companion' it strikes in an area instead and deals 50% more damage (companions would be minions, summons, pets, etc.)

F2 grants protection, resolution for 3s in an area. 8s CD.

F3 grants quickness, superspeed for 3s in an area. 8s CD.

F4 grants resistance, 2 stacks of stability for 2s each in an area. 8s CD.

GM traits would be one of:

GM1: Chakra Healing. Heal allies with 600 range when using a Chakra Release. Something like Soldier's Comfort in base healing and scaling, no ICD.

GM2: Chakra Protection. Grant Barrier to allies within 600 range when using a Chakra Release.

GM3: Chakra Onslaught: Grant 6 stacks of might, fury, and vigor for 5s to allies within 600 when using a Chakra Release.

Note that none of these would proc based off of Banish. Banish is there to be the trigger for the core 'on hit' burst traits while these three GM traits affect F2-F3.

Master tier would be the traits that grant effects/boons when removing conditions

Adept tier would be the traits that give additional ways to gain Chakra.
