"Alliance" we were deceived! This is just a large-scale free transfer of servers

what about casual players, what about teamspeak coordination, what about foreign language, where is the fun now.

No more special WvW builds needed. Only Chatcommanders with their different languages and so on and so on.

in my opinion: wvw will die soon (remember DAoC? after they brought a underwatermap, game died)

Dear Arenanet, leave all ur plans for alliances behind and restore our old "broken" but known "broken" system.

ty for listening my 5c

That particular part is an interesting aspect.

Over the years, the zerg has always been this "dirty" thing that's not really what it's about even if everyone seek it out, it's about the scrims and "skillfull" 25 man "fair" hardcore guilds that's the proper WvW mode. They're there for fights after all. That's what everyone say. Hell I think even zerglings running in a 70+ zoneblob in some deep part at the back of their brain thinks that fighting a door isnt quite what WvW is supposed to be about.

And then when something temporarily changes that put heavy emphasis on the guilds being the way to play and organize yourself... everyone looses their minds.

That's what we had anyway, with all the links my host server has had this and last year apart from 4 months with Arborstone, including a guild on my own server; who are running on their own discord and not the community one.

We've had two national servers in the EU who were a bit of a meme, French and Germans, who had a ton of chatmanders, got us stuck in t1 and either had peculiar leading styles although the Germans tried, otherwise they just played among their own small community.

Even the one international we had alot of egos, mostly refused to join our tags or even our discord and understand that, because of transfers out in the past year, that we needed a bit more support in more organized fights. Then Anet dropped us both down to High population, for T1 bandwagoners to fill up the population caps once again.

So I'm not missing anything, especially since this a Beta test. It's not like Server Linkings were any good and should of been replaced by something else years ago, but for years, WvW content wasn't being worked on of this size.

That's one opinion. But it's not the ONLY opinion. WvW is about all of the things. It SHOULD be about all of the things, but instead of balance, people want it to be easier to do the things they want to do - hence the vocal minorities endlessly whining on the forums.

As much as I enjoy them, scrims and "fights" are NOT the core of WvW. The vast majority of the time it's about holding your side's own stuff. Scrims and fights happen during a short period - World Restructuring is about trying to get that period to happen more of the time.

I would say "Hardcore" in WvW is about how LONG you play, not how PO-FACED you are when you're standing in a field, playing for an hour or two. That's why the ranks make sense to me.

This is a test of the underlying structure (dynamically restructuring the teams) needed to make Alliances work, using guilds as a stand-in for alliances (which will be composed of multiple guilds).

Note that you also had ample opportunity to make a fake alliances by creating a temporary mega-guild. People who wanted to try out that aspect did it weeks ago.

Casual players can continue to play as they have before. Or they could join a casual-oriented guild if they want a more enduring "community." It's very easy to scout and self-organize without needing to be joined at the hip to the exact same people for years on end (and there are still tools to keep playing with people you actually like, if you want to!).

Dropping a Discord link in your squad description is trivial.

Cross-language play has always been an issue, and I think the major solution here is to cultivate language-based alliances. (Which should come together pretty naturally.) Multilingual shards aren't a huge problem, imo: I've just spent a month playing alongside Portuguese speakers and it took me all of two hours to figure out how to make sense of their map chat callouts, at most.

Lol, what.

I've already had better fights on reset night than I've had in months.
