A crack in the ice episode bug

I know its probably a known bug but I've contacted support and had no real help in this matter.

So the issue is when you craft the Thaw Elixir in Living World Season 3 episode "A Crack In The Ice" if you log off the effect of it will go away. So before knowing that me and my friend logged off and tried to continue the story line but could not get into the bitter cold because we always die for not having the elixir's effect on.

Now I searched through and found out that even in the wiki Thaw Elixir - Guild Wars 2 Wiki (GW2W) at the bottom of the page in bug section it says that we should restart the story line.

The only problem is that we do not know how to restart the story line because it always continues from the same place even after quitting this episode and starting other stories.

The support team even told me that they cannot manually restart my episode so I'm completely lost because I want to do this story with a specific character but it is now impossible.

If anyone knows what we can do please let us know.

I know this is an old thread.  But I recently had this similar issue and simply had to abandon the chapter.  This sort of design is confusing to new players.  There are many inconsistencies in this game that makes for a super unintuitive experience for us rookies.  They should give a warning concerning this elixir, especially considering how much effort these stories are for players who can't yet unlock their elite specs due to a lack of hero points.  

 

Still my current favorite game.  But there are many instances where I don't get to experience a lot of what the game has to offer due to confusing mechanics and the slog of constantly replaying these arduous missions.

You mean you did not notice the buff so it vanished after reset?

Well that is not a bug just a lack of seeing what the UI shows you.

  Once again, I NEVER SAID IT WAS A BUG AND IM NOT THE ORIGINAL POSTER.

I already uninstalled the game.  It's fine. Not important.  Like most new players, I simply will not continue playing.  Have a good day.  I won't be logging into this account for any reason so no need to reply.
