OLD TRADING WINDOW

Recommended Posts

Do you mean during the beta tests when the gem store and trading post had separate menus? Or the launch version where buying, selling and checking your history were separate menus on the left side of the trading post window instead of tabs along the top? (You can see that version here: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trading_Post#/media/File:Trading_Post_interface_2012.jpg )

Either way I remember it, but I'm not sure why you're asking. Is there something you want to know about it, or want us to know? Or are you just wondering if anyone else is aware it was updated?

Playing since open betas, this was never a thing from what I recall, and there are statements from Anet as early as Feb. 2012, before even the limited/invite only press and NDA'ed close betas, stating that direct player trading would never be a thing in GW2.

Maybe there was one during the alpha stage? GW1 had direct trading, with a dedicated menu (but no trading post) so it wouldn't surprise me if they considered it for GW2. But I've never heard much about the very early stages of development, so I'm not sure.

It definitely wasn't in the game at launch, or during the beta tests.

If you are referring to player-to-player trading, you might be remembering Guild Wars, rather then Guild Wars 2, as Guild Wars 2 never had such a thing.

woops . but uhm maybe i confused it for guild wars 1??? im not sure but i remember seeing one. where the two parties could enter a trade mode window. and agree to trade or disagree

Well what I remember it wasn’t the same as guild wars 1 trading window. It had two sides. One was on the left for 1 person and the other on the right for 2 person which both people could see. And their was a invite to trade option when you right clicked on the person also.  You could put gold or items into the window and then both parties had to agree to the trade through the options.

That describes tbe GW1 approach pretty well. The devs stated well before launch that GW2 would not have a system for direct player to player trade because of issues associated with how it worked in GW1.
