One of my hobbies in GW2 and other games is trying to break out of the bounds of the regular maps.

Sometimes I hit the boundaries of the map, but in several cases I stumble into absolute gems that are not open to the public.

I would like to share these views with you in the screenshots below. I hope you enjoy them as I do!

p.s. if anything I show here is in violation of the rules, please send me a message Arenanet and I will delete it. I don't intend to get in/cause trouble because I love the game. But I feel this is too cool to keep to myself and would like to share it.

I can't see the pictures, it's just taking me to a Google sign in page. 😕

But as far as I know this is allowed as long as you're not using it to exploit anything. Running around under/behind the map is fine, deliberately using it to break things is not, although it's rare that you even have that opportunity, the most you're likely to be able to do is run under the map to the end of a jumping puzzle then get yourself back into the normal map at the same point so you can get the chest without doing the puzzle.

If you haven't already seen them I recommend checking out the northern edges of both Silverwastes and Drytop. Silverwastes has more to see, but IMO Drytop is the more surprising of the two.

⬅️ In my previous post, not everyone could see the pictures I posted. I hope I solved this here!

Been a while since I did this on purpose in GW2, but a friend and I made a habit of doing it in Destiny 2 (which is seriously full of holes for some of its explorable areas).

It's great fun!

Good pics too 🙂

Thank you! I have done this a lot around 2014 too. Unfortunately many offmap-locations have been closed since then. I am glad some of the major ones are still accessable in 2022! Since not everyone saw the pictures here, mind commenting and upvoting my other post here>>

I was able to see pictures, I recognize a few of them, others I do not. I can't seem to place the ones that look like ascalon or the one with the ice cave, may I ask what zone they are in? The ice cave somewhat reminds me of a location from gw1 that was full of ice imps, but I may be wrong on that one.

Hi there, thanks for your reply! I've answered your questions regarding the locations in my other post (where the pictures work for everyone ;))

I'm sorry! I've created a new post just so you can still see the pictures. I hope you enjoy them and I will definitely go check out Silverwastes and Dry Top! 😄 Thank you!

Just an FYI:  That's against forum rules.

Your original thread is likely on the front page of the forum it belongs in: Community Creations.

Edit: In fact, it is the top thread.  (Just checked.)

If I knew that I wouldn't have done it 🤕 I just wanted to make people happy with these pictures. I'm sorry...

No need to be sorry.  Just imparting information.

Your threads may be merged.  🤷‍♂️

That would be a nice solution yea. Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely hold it into account next time.

On another note though: What did you think of the pictures? 😊

Breaking out of bounds is not a problem. Question is what you do there. Once you use it to get a benefit from it, you are basically exploiting. Just looking around is fine. What you do with your discoveries is up to you. I usually report my findings directly.

There is one location, I was certain they have managed to seal air-tight last time. Seems my assumption was incorrect. Good job!

Pictures are quite impressive, some of the locations take a lot of patience to reach nowadays.

Are you EU or NA?

Hey there, as the screenshots might proof, I am only interested in beautiful sceneries and discovering uncharted territory. I have no intention of exploiting. I wouldn't possibly know what would benefit me so much I wouldn't just do some T4 Fractals or Legendary crafting instead anyway 😉

I am EU, I have gone out of bounds since 2014 and what you say is very true. Some of the old 'off-maps' have been closed. But hardly any map is truely 'Air-tight'. And for the sake of nice screenshots. I hope it stays that way! It is one of the things I do when I don't have another ingame goal. Removing opportunities to break out of the map would probably make me quit the game for a while instead till I have another ingame goal.

Nice one! Have you been to the locations in your pictures recently?
I would be very interested in seeing the video on all the hidden places. Do you happen to have a link for me?

No. I made those screenshots several years ago.
