What should come next? and what roles would we need. Team fighter or duelist in pvp? A spec that can play with the big boys and girls in zerg WvW? or a RP spec for PvE? OR should we get the old faithful roamer +1er spec?

Is this the time for off hand sword? Dual weld maces or axes?

I want a spec that plays around with dual weld a bit more, so i wouldn't want to see greatsword next.

Any ideas?

Let's see how Specter pans out first xD

In the state we currently know, I'm predicting a bulkier roamer, and a niche pick for group content in PvE.

Edit: Plus to be fair, I'm not really hyped about this spec, and kinda now waiting on the next. No harm in asking now.

Fair enough. Tbh I was assuming that this expac would be the last, given GW1 got three expacs and the name End of Dragons being fairly ominous given everything in this game is to do with dragons in some way. But hey xD

On topic: If I'm getting anything, I want to sneak attack people with dual wielded hammers. I almost don't care what else the spec does if it gives me that lol

Never too early.

I would like a Swindler type elite spec.  Gets an offhand sword and is basically focused on buffing allies and debuffing enemies using skilled speech or insults.  Basically a smooth talker.  Could also call it a scoundrel.

I want to see a non-stealth, power based, highly mobile, mid range dualist spec focused on sustained damage as that's what the class is still lacking in any even remotely satisfying capacity. Focus could be used as an OH melee weapon (which is also something the class is still missing) and the class mechanic should be a class mechanic weapon (like the one Bladesworn has) which then could be either another take on dual pistol or something more like an SMG.

TBH I don't see much value coming from OH sword unless you also want to change how dual wielding works to include at least the AAs. Issue is that both baseline MH melee weapons have their damage front loaded and already access to mobility, which is a good thing but also means that it's better for the OH weapons to focus on CC at which point something like a focus or especially a mace would be more fitting.

My expectations were turned a bit when they gave out 2 "samurai" specs this expansion that don't belong to Thief, but GS still needs to happen.  I'd honestly like it to be a more robust tank-type through parries and counters, less focused on stealth, and perhaps with some Spellbreaker notes.

I'd be fine with them getting rid of Thieve's Guild (similar to how Acrobatics was nerfed for Daredevil, or Guardians lost Tomes to make way for Firebrand) and having a minion type build.

Right now it's a bit dodgy with Initiative not being affected by Alacrity. Thieves can make due with perma-quickness, but I'd actually want to explore having almost no Initiative as a theme of a Thief and instead you're focusing on being a group mugging people and focusing on the use of Stolen skills to proc effects.

Shield for thief weapon.

F1 Steal --> "Focus" (25s cooldown): You and all currently summoned Minions Shadowstep to target and gain Stealth.

F2 Minions (Count 3, 1/2s activation, 1s recharge between uses, 40s count recharge) Can have up to 3 "Guild Mates" out at once. Each one that's active reduces your Initiative by 2. Guild Mates gain and use a Stolen Skill any time they or the Thief gain stealth.

Guild Mates: All traits that affect Stolen skills affect Guild Mates. Guild Mates last until killed. Stats slighter lower than a Necromancer Flesh Golem.

Traits:

Adept Minor: Unlock Elite Spec

  1. Guild Mates cleanse 1 condition from themselves every 8s. Guild Mate gains a Venom depending on the condition cleansed (Poison = Spider Venom, Chill = Ice Drake Vanom, Cripple/Immob = Devourer Venom, all others = Skale Venom). Note: Guild Mates share venom.
  2. Thief and Guild Mates gain 5% attack speed increase every time a Guild Mate hits a foe. Stacks up to 10 times, lasts 15s. (Does not stack with quickness)
  3. Guild Mates gain and use a stolen skill any time Thief uses a Shield skill. Reduce Shield Skill cooldown by 20%.

Master Minor: Thief and Minions have a chance to share their boons with each other upon critically striking (33% chance, boons shared for 6s)

  1. Transfer 1 condition to Guild Mates; this occurs every 10s
  2. Healing/Utility/Elite cause guild mates to inflict a 2nd attack after a 1/2 interval for 5s.
  3. Gain 1 initiative every time a Guild Mate uses a Stolen Skill.

Grandmaster Minor: Recharge "Focus" & Summon Guild Mate by 1s every 5s for each Guild Mate active.

  1. Guild mates steal boons upon attack. This can occur once every 10s per Guild Mate.
  2. Can summon additional 1 Guild Mate (4 total). Recharge occurs every 4s.
  3. Guild Mates create a Choking Gas field upon using a stolen skill.

Healing: Gain Health and heal all active Guild Mates. Amount increases by number of currently active Guild Mates.

Utility

  1. All Guild Mates active use a stolen skill..
  2. All Guild Mates active use Caltrops.
  3. All Guild Mates active create a Smoke Field

Elite: Summons the maximum number of Guild Mates (regardless of cooldown) and all use a stolen skill.

Shield 4: Leap and strike a foe, gaining Stealth (1s)

Shield 5: Combo-finisher Blast, AoE damage.
