A moment of honesty

Does anyone here enjoy pvp enough that they play outside the seasons? I know I don’t.Without two parallel reward tracks I feel like pvp is more punishing than rewarding. And I dont mean on the whole “pvp is too difficult”-level.I mean on, sifting through days on end of toxic people, afk’s, and feeders. Somehow I get the feeling there’s this large 25,000 heads guild that plays pvp just to ruin the enjoyment of others. I comstantly report people for harassment, leaving midmatch, and all that whatnot, but if they ever tell me anything it’s“We have no problem being toxic, or manipulating matches since anet doesn’t do anything with reports”

In my case I really like the mechanics of GW2 & honing muscle memory. I'm not easily offended by bad words & bad players, and that's just it - bad players, there are few DC's, Rage quit's, early AFK'rs, maybe one in twenty matches. So yeah, I honestly don't mind, it's still entertaining content

that's one way, but cutting of your ears isn't really a 'good' battle strategy...every once in a blue moon I actually have a functioning party that wants to communicate and strategize. That said, if I turn off all forms of communication I'm just increasing the problems...I guess pvp is doomed to be a free for all where your own team is as much an enemy is the 5 opponents

This pretty much describes GW2 pvp from my perspective.

All i play these days even during the season is unranked. All the toxic trash players, afk pve hunters, match manipulators, and just bad pugs seem to rule the ranked area. Only issue in unranked is low skill pugs (like there are in ranked). Besides that seems unranked is the fun area. If you just want to kill other people's toons for fun and not rewards just pure pvp. It's in unranked. Now n then ill do conq but stronghold is just sooooo much fun. I miss seasons 1-4 where you had a choice of what you play.

+1 - I think it is best to focus on that which you can control; DC'ers, toxic players, and overall selfishness cannot be controlled so you have to flow past that to continue to enjoy a game that at its core has a good PVP structure (and has made incremental improvements over time)

I almost only play unranked because I play stronghold instead of conquest, so I don't care about seasons. I did some ranked this year but I don't really like the gameplay.

I set a target for myself to become a dragon and will painstakingly get there eventually. Some matches I shine, blasting through defenses or keeping our guards alive, some I just get oneshotted and trashed over and over again. Phoenix now, so slowly getting there.

@Alehin.3746 said:Yes. The game is pretty fun, even with kitten balance. I think you guys are just too attatched to wins and losses, you can't be like that in team games if you want to have fun. Thats just me tho.

Not at all actually. We are just attached to a basic standard of gaming that GW2 have no intention on providing it PvPers or WvWers with.

Which is completely absent in GW2. Which is one of the main reason we actual PvPers. go elsewhere. Where competitive PvP is supported. Oh and btw the that was a player I reported for throwing a Unranked match in Smite. GW2 is the one of the only games where such behavior is welcomed and supported.

I keep playing despite all, because I like it. The toxicity is largely due to poor quality matches in my view. I admit to being toxic at times. I got in the habit because I got told things like "please commit suicide" and that seemed to be the environment. I'm actively trying to improve that. Bad habits are tough to change.

ANET ran multiple seasons of deliberately unbalanced matches. To fix it, we need good matches, consistently.

I don't really think ranked is that toxic... Except for thiefs... Thiefs are always toxic... But they're thiefs, so it's whatever.

Yeah that tool would be pretty cool for gw2. It's pretty nice on league of cancer too, but unfortunately anet don't really care about the game mode like we wish they did.

But honestly I don't think they'd care at all and we'd just end up ruining PvP even more for no reason..

Pretty much, that would be the only case. Thus no good would come out of it.
