If you have a necro and a warrior with 1100 power and a stick and nothing to make their direct damage any better in any way they do the exact same damage and if they do not than someone made a big mistake in the coding of the game Let's ignore a few things here; Attributes, traits, etc. We only have the base, nothing else, no other skills either, just auto attack on warrior and necromancer axe. Let's also presume the target is immune to conditions (All conditions), and no one can crit. Warrior Power Target’s Armor 1000 2000 Skill Chop Double chop Triple Chop Totals DPS Min Damage 315 675 1395 2385 1192.5 Max Damage 385 825 1705 2915 1457.5 Cast time (Sec) 0.25 0.25 1.5 2 Necro Power Target’s Armor 1000 2000 Skill Rending Claws Totals DPS Min Damage 450 450 450 Max Damage 550 550 550 Cast time (Sec) 1 1 🤔 Looks like, in a vacuum, warriors do more damage with their bladed sticks than necromancers do. But hey, this may be 'unfair' for a comparison as the movesets are so different. So what about dagger? Warrior Power Target’s Armor 1000 2000 Skill Precise Cut Focused Slash Keen Strike Totals DPS Min Damage 266.75 266.75 412.25 945.75 472.875 Max Damage 283.25 283.25 437.75 1004.25 502.125 Cast time (Sec) 0.25 0.25 1.5 2 Necro Power Target’s Armor 1000 2000 Skill Necrotic Slash Necrotic Stab Necrotic Bite Totals DPS Min Damage 436.5 339.5 582 1358 665.686274509804 Max Damage 515 360.5 618 1493.5 732.107843137255 Cast time (Sec) 2.04 2.04 Another instance where damage is quite different despite movesets being basically, the same. It's almost like this is intentional design.
Serephen.3420
Viper is gear best suited for condi builds, so it is condi gear. And they all lived happily ever after, the end.
The Boz.2038
In a power build, conditions can do literally 0 damage. You might not have any conditions on your bar, or access to any fields that can generate such a condition through a finisher, either. No amount of condition damage or expertise will increase the DPS of the build; the only area of optimization left, really, is the stat prioritization (as in assassin, or even dragon stats). In a condition damage build, your condition damage footprint is something between 70 and 95% condition damage, as any condition delivery vehicle on a weapon also includes a tiny power damage packet. Precision helps because many condition builds use traits and sigils that proc off critical hits, and reaching a 40-60% "sweetspot" means those trigger regularly. There is no major condition damage stat set that has minor precision and minor expertise. That hypothetical set would be the theoretical "best condi damage gear", just as berserker is for power. For this reason, Viper is the de facto condi gear of the game. It provides two stats you really want (condition damage and expertise), one you very much like (precision), and one that doesn't hurt to have (power). Trailblazer is "also" condi gear, but not *the* condi gear, as it sacrifices two offensive stats for two defensive stats. If anything, its true role is "condi tank". If you are using it as a DPS option, you are welcome to do so; your theoretical max damage loss on a scourge is something like 10%, which should get lost in the noise and not at all noticed in fractals, but be sure to mention it in raids because of tanking mechanics. Unless, that is, you really want to grief your team. Furthermore, it can be toxic, yes, to have people nag at you in game. However, nagging can be warranted if you signed up as a DPS slot, but can't outDPS the healbrand running harrier gear; in that case, it is you who is being toxic by wasting peoples' time and expecting to be carried through content. Suggestion: take your build and playstyle to the Lion's Arch Aerodrome golem (enter, turn left, create an empty one-man squad, and enter the door up the stairs and to your left). Give yourself all the buffs from the console. Create a golem with all the conditions. Whack at it until it dies using your "I am doing DPS in fractals" playstyle. If you are doing less than 13k damage, maybe consider that you have a problem.
