HOlosmith buff?

i havent had a chance to play yet since balance patch but why did holosmiths get prty big damage buffs i mean they could already chain cc and one shot u if u made 1 mistake.......they need more dmg i guess so they dont have to cc also they have perma stability so u cant even cc them if u dont have a boon rip up plus the cover boons they haver only if ur a scourge

Umm... I'ma stop you right there:

  • Holosmith still can't facetank anything. It's still high-risk, high-reward. Scourges and condi builds can still melt us.
  • The buffs were primarily to sword damage, which was woefully underwhelming on release. Sword changes are primarily for PvE, as using it in PvP almost completely eliminates any ranged options a holo might have. And as I mentioned before... we can't facetank.
  • Other buffs included combo fields/finishers which should have been there in the first place, and making coolant blast's toolbelt skill, cauterize, potentially competitive compared to healing turret.

What are we still missing?

  • Heat bonuses on any weapons other than sword (Why did weaver get all its core weapons affected, and engineer only got the new one?)
  • Defensive exceeds are still pretty trashy and counterintuitive
  • Condi holo is still really wonky.
  • Something to make vent exhaust not anti-synergetic with the rest of holosmith.

Who is so scary that they cannot facetank? Sure they can't facetank multiple people, but name a bad matchup that cannot be 'facetanked' by holo.

They needed stab and leap nerfs.

Funny, I never have any noteworthy difficulty facing holosmiths. They're extremely squishy, and once their heat gets too high their offensive pressure disappears. They can disengage, sure, but so can thieves and (to an extent) warriors and mesmers.

Maybe you just only play a build that's particularly weak against holosmiths?

It would be more of a challenge to name a good matchup. Prior to today's patch, they had poor matchups with just about everything aside from another holosmith.

Uh, no class can facetank anything. It's why we have these things called blocks, dodges, CC, and blinds.

Such as? If your going to complain, the least you could do is to not aimlessly complain, and offer some reasonable specifics.

Can you show me a video of you specifically, playing in such an overpowered manner, or are all overpowered holismiths, simply the ones playing against you?

Already named plenty of specifics in other threads but sure. Holo Leap needed a huge damage shave if its gonna keep its 2 second cooldown and the free stability on CC: Eclipse needed to have a nerf of sorts.

Uh, no class can facetank anything. It's why we have these things called blocks, dodges, CC, and blinds.

As far as I know, the definition of facetank is being able to stand your ground and receive all the punishment the enemy is throwing at you. If you block or use your immunities, you are still face tanking it by using your skills. When you dodge or interupt your enemy attacks you are no longer facetanking, but evading or countering.

And at least until yesterday patch, Warriors could easily facetank anything (Except for Condi Scourge) with high sustain through immunities, blocks and health regen. Saying no class could facetank anything when you have things like Spellbreaker or Support Firebrand who don't move a inch despite you throwing everything at them is just absurd.
