The fishing party buff needs work

Recommended Posts

Imagine you're out on a fishing round, then...

... you see a chest in the water below you. Better hurry to open and back, before you lose your stacks.

... your skiff is getting attacked by a random mob. Jump off, kill it really fast, jump back on.

... you run into a leviathan event but now have to decide whether to give up your stacks, because those mobs will kill your skiff and there's no way you are tagging that fish, then getting out of combat to resummon your skiff in time.

Seriously, why is that timer so short? Why does it even need to exist? ><

The timer doesn't matter. You can regain your stacks as long as either the skiff still exists or there's time remaining. You can also carry the stacks by mounting on the skiff, then the timer doesn't start until you dismount.

Where it fails is when you have to step too far away (over 3000 range), so it essentially locks you into fishing. Someone needs help nearby? Too bad. It was basically designed to require a second account to act as a permanent anchor. Obvious changes would be to make the stacks increase depending on the rarity of the fish caught (similar to the tournament) and for it to last as long as you're in the map, or at least 30 minutes.

Huh, I didn't know that, thanks. Still weird that the buff disappears from your bar though, making it seem like you lost it.

But even then, having to basically bodyguard your skiff and stay in range is an issue, lol.

The skiff has a separate timer from your buff stacks. I have not tested how long it is exactly but I would say it is at least 30 seconds possibly a minute or more. You can sumon another skiff after your previous one despawned an your stacks will still be there.

It's 15 seconds. When you step off your skiff, you get to keep a copy of the stacks for 15 seconds (this is the "leaving association with skiff" timer). When the skiff is despawned, it has its own 15 second hidden timer before it loses its stacks. If either timer is alive, you can summon a new skiff to regain your stacks.
