Disconnects shouldn't remove you from your map instance right away

I disconnect during a meta event.  My game hangs for about 20 seconds.  Get kicked to the character screen.  I rejoin to a fresh map with nothing going on.  At least hold my spot on the map or something for a minute or two while things get sorted out before kicking me out.

I have a lot of disconnects too (Philippine internet is pretty unreliable). That is why I rarely do any group events. I can barely get through the story without doing half of it twice...
