Achievement Points lost [Merged]

Recommended Posts

Sadly, no, it has not been fixed.

Today I lost points I gained from fishing yesterday, points that are supposed to be premanent after completing the regional collection for the first time (so, I am not talking about the repetable achievements for EoD maps that might be causing troubles).

All the feedback we are getting about this rather serious issue for now is...silence.

Finished Repair Crew Royale (North Repair Crew Escort) and I didn't receive the +2 AP. This is getting ridiculous trying to do achievement points. For veteran players those AP are pretty important as they give us a reason to continue playing this old game. Arenanet... tell us SOMETHING! Btw, I've been tracking my AP since 7/6/22 after I noticed the loss of AP.

On my main account, I was at Seitung, fishing, close to that Aetherblades meta boss' cave. The map meta was going at the time. I did not participate in the map meta because of this EoD losing AP bug. However, after the meta, I noticed that I received 2 AP? If this can be reproduced by other players, then this is a game-breaking bug now. If not, I honestly don't know what happened. No, I did not go back and tried to get more AP.

Just finished Saitung Meta and once again got 2 AP I should not have gotten. +1 from the Eternal Saitung Meta Achievement and +1 from the Eternal Aetherblade Shenanigans, even though I already completed both of them multiple times.

Will report back once the AP have been removed but somehow I have a feeling they wont be.

I was going to finish getting every achievement point in the "End of Dragons" achievement drop down when I noticed something wasn't working properly when working on the Seitung Province and ended up in this thread.

Basically all the "Eternal..." achievements have an issue like reported before. Having completed the repeatable achievements should grant me +1 AP in most cases, but sometimes it gives me 2 or even 3, regardless of how many sub achievements have been completed for that achievement. changing maps doesn't do anything. There's even a case where I didn't complete the achievement yet, but got the full 3/3 AP from it, while it should give +1AP for completing it once. This is the "Eternal Aetherblade Shenanigens" achievement.

So this issue is still present as of today. I'll probably revisit doing these once a fix has been made as it's no use now playing with something that's broken.

I lost three by now within the past couple of days, with no Achievments done other than those Adventure Guide ones, which don't give AP -- but obviously make you lose some! 🤬

What the heck is going on there?? 😶 (At this rate, I will end up getting the previous achievement chest twice.)

So, here's the update on my 2nd completion of the Zaithan variant achievement. Up until the last step the AP would persist across sessions/days. Once you finish it you get the final +4 (from the 7th step of the achiev) and on map change it resets and deducts 10AP.

However, in theory, you could get an extra 6AP by just not finishing it and leaving the achiev at step 6 of 7 forever.

ANet, can you please take another look at all the repeatable EoD achievements and fix this mess?

Hi all, I am sorry this is happening. I'm asking about it.

Any news half a year later? :classic_huh:

My AP deteriorated again by one more point tonight after repeating some "Slay x of enemy type y" EoD achievement. I'm at 39,319 now.

Can this finally get fixed? Playing your EoD expansion's contents makes the player lose hard earned AP every day, and it's really starting to make me angry.

So, regarding the mysterious deterioration of Achievement Points, I have found the culprits:

The repeatable EoD achievements that stop giving any AP after the second or third completion are subtracting their already awarded AP again after each additional completion.

Please fix this, it's been half a year since it was first reported...

UPDATE:

Okay, the AP seem to fluctuate in both directions, but they are definitely bound to the Repeatable Achievements.

  • Ashantara.8731 changed the title to Repeatable EoD Achievements keep giving +/-1 AP

Thanks to this EoD losing AP bug, I don't even remember the last time I played any EoD maps. Someone was asking Ruby for a refund and I second that. If your AP is low enough, can you get your AP into the negative side (like -10 total AP) eventually?

I think Ruby gave up on this bug seeing it's been half a year without even a whisper. Every single GW2 player will have been affected by it by now and I've not touched EoD since. Any chance we can get some acknowledgement?  @Double Tap

I appear to have lost about 300 ap after the most recent update. I also had some email about a title (relating to GW1). Anyway, I received my 39500k chest awhile ago, and have received many AP since. It even shows that my next chest is the 40,000k chest. Yet I only have 39299k AP. I also haven't touched EoD achievements in awhile so something else appears to be the problem.

Just to soothe everyone, as I wrote in May, on this thread (and some other player also noticed, later on), you don't "lose" AP.

We are rewarded with more AP than intended (not when we complete the whole achievement/repeatable quest, but when we complete a single tier). So it can happen that an achiev that has 3 AP in total, gives us 5 AP, because we completed a new tier of a repeatable quest today. When we log-in the next time (even in the same day), the game checks that we don't exceed the AP cap for each achiev, and it removes these 2 AP for example.

So don't panic and simply avoid wasting time completing these repeatable quests for now. I'm pretty sure that when they fix it, we will have even a dozen of APs less. Although I don't know why is taking so long to fix it, when the steps to reproduce it are quite clear now.

A quick thank you for the heads-up. I did indeed miss your original post on this.

Good to know! 👍
