I feel excluded from EoD because Soo Won meta event is too hard

Some people would. Others would camp those spots specifically to kill off any non-WvWers that would try to do dailies that way.

I’ve never seen that kind of behavior. I’d expect they’d have a long, boring wait between non-WvWers actually showing up to kill the vet creature.

Hanging around the camps or guards closest to enemy home would probably net one a lot more non-wvwers/minute.

Hi all!   First of all, I would like to say I really like Guild Wars 2. I bought every expansion so far, including EoD.   I really like open world content. Raids on the other hand

This kind of rhetoric is unnecessary.  There is a difference between "pausing netflix and focus on the game" and having to be on discord in a squad with a commander that has arranged all the players i

None of that sounds "chill" at all. That sounds like any other instanced run.

Yeah, right. That's by far not the norm. If you've witnessed anything like that, it's probably close to having literally 3 encounters in a year. The general population of wvw just lets those people be, having the opposing teams stand together waiting for the spawn is a regular occurance during those dailies and has been for years now.

Incase you guys didnt notice it:

Changes to the final encounter in the Battle for the Jade Sea meta-event:

  • Decreased the frequency of the boss's tail phase so that its presence is less likely to overlap with an active defiance bar.
  • The Exposed effect will now apply to both the tail and the head if the boss's defiance bar is broken while the tail phase is active.
  • If the tail is defeated while the boss has the Exposed effect on its head, the Exposed effect's duration will be extended to compensate for the need to respond to its tail and head simultaneously.

Note: These changes are now active. A new game build is not required for them to take effect.

i didn’t get that achievement.  It does say succeed in subduing. (I haven’t done that story section yet)

It was bugged to trigger on the reward popup for failing the event to defeat Soo-Won; you also have to qualify for it by being on the last story step. If it's not triggering now, it was probably fixed, but I assumed it was intentional, especially considering they said this meta isn't intended for everyone and changed the Delaqua story to not require succeeding.

Soo Won's AI still broken on the latest update,

Counted 18-20 bite attacks on a post-update run where there were 4 times where she chained bites 2-3 times.

CC and Tail overlapped at least 4 times during this fight

Ended up at 20% despite this terrible RNG. This is clearly not due to the players or squad's shortcomings.

Literally impossible for the average organised run to clear under these conditions, worse so for a cobbled up pug run

Even before that, our map crashed and deposited squad into several different instances. We were lucky enough to find an instance where the escorts weren't started yet, but we could not return to the instance where we prepped from the start. Looks like there's a lot of issues that need to be addressed asap >~>

Perhaps there are other requirements that you fulfilled but I didn’t

Yeah, no idea, sadly. I'd love some clarity on these little things from Anet.

Just did another run, a lot less bite attacks (about 8 this run), chain bites happened twice as well

CC and Tail overlapped 4-5 times again. Chain bites during the final 20% killed the run.

The overall squad was less responsive than the previous run, which meant we couldn't press our advantage,

but at the same time this should illustrate how the meta is still pretty prone to fail by RNG rather than organisation/skill/mechanics.

Doesn't always happen but there are perma stealth dead eyes or small groups of people camping especially around the uncapturable spawn bases who just kill anyone who leaves alone and avoid squads when they spawn in.

Directly targeting less experienced players or people who just wanna farm their GoB.

Also just finished Dragons End in an organized group with nothing but pugs. As in subgroups with properly assigned quickness and alacrity.  Also only 2 tails.

We finished with exactly 5 minutes left on the timer.

Another one with "gitgut" tips forgetting the most important thing required for this meta: Pray to RNGesus for good mechanic rolls. Everything on your list is "optional" at best.
This meta isn't hard because of difficult mechanics, it's hard because of RNG rolls. Stop confusing luck with skill.

I am glad I'm not the only one that sees this. It is very much the case of poor RNG rather than mechanics being hard, so much stuff overlaps that shouldn't which just ends it up being a kitten poor design overall. I am sure once they fix a lot of the rng and overlap of mechanics it will be fine.

Sure it might still need some organising but that is not bad especially if it means you are gonna get the kill

Addressing the entire topic of what people consider or don't consider "chill" runs.  Some people seem to think that unless they are allowed to succeed without having to change ANYTHING from what THEY want to do, then it isn't a chill run.  That leaves me shaking my head a bit.. Maybe it's a product of the participation trophy generation, I dunno.

Case in point, in map chat last week there was this guy complaining about how rude these people were because they booted him from some strike mission.  So, people in map chat were sympathetic, saying yeah, that's rude.  People shouldn't do that. Then the guy goes on to explain that just because he is a druid, they shouldn't boot him.  Map goes, well, druids are useful healers.  The dude then says he doesn't use any heal skills or abilities.  He refuses to. He wants to play a staff druid in a pure dps role.  Because he wants to.  And it's rude for other people to not let him.  Because Anet says play how you want with the class you want, so that's what he's doing.  At that point the entire map chat was shaking its collective head at him.

The point being, you have to make SOME effort to contribute to the success of the meta or whatever content you're doing.  I mean, just like with Teq and the others, I'm sure a critical mass of the population will get to a point where fails are very rare, and most maps will be able to carry people who don't think they should have to change anything or put in any kind of extra effort, and still win.  Actually, 2 days ago we did a DE meta, and some guy in the chat thanked us very much, as we just got their 10 year old child their turtle egg on their first try.  So that indicates to me that we're actually getting to that point.

So those are the options.. either wait for that point, or change up the playstyle and build a bit so you can contribute more.  We have build templates now.  Just make a build template with a "raid" build, or an alac build, or a high dps build or whatever, and just use that template when doing this kind of content, then go back to whatever your preferred build template is afterward.  You're not forced to remain in the useful build forever. It takes less than a second to swap templates.

Just did a successful run with the usual type of successful squad (very organized and started almost 1 hour before the meta). As always, this should not be the norm.

I had special interest in how the last changes affected the fight. We had 4 tails, but we ignored two of them (boss about to phase or be defeated). The key point here is that we didn't have too much overlaping mechanics... maybe one bite while doing one of the tails, but that's it.

Now, the bites? i hope it was just bad RNG or a bug. We had consecutive bites several times during the whole fight. This is the kind of behaviour that kills the fun from the fight. Not knowing when she is going to do the bite is totally fine, not everything needs to be scripted, but randomness needs reasonable limits to be enjoyed.

Spent a little over an hour this morning doing pretty events just for xp. There were a bunch of people on the map, and prep level was high a crossed all areas with 45 minutes still left before the escorts.

I thought I might as well stick around and see how the meta would go. By the time the escorts started, there was one other player where they start.

So I play lfg roulette, with no expectations. End up taking a ‘meta taxi’ into a zone. Two lanes get done, but I can tell by how long it takes to kill the salt sprays we don’t have a chance. Everyone hops over to the third lane, where the NPC chastises is for not doing the preparation events. Kinda rich when I’ve left a zone that was fully prepped but abandoned. We run out of time right before finishing it.

On a lark, I check lfg and actually get into a map where Soo Won is at half health. I join in, we get it to 25% before time runs out. Arguing commences in map chat about fault. I get a few helpful suggestions via whisper on how to get to the tail faster when I ask.

It was sooner and even funny. With less than 2% left before the second round of greens she went from east to west then instantly did another bite from west to east with and changed again because she only knows how to roleplay on one side of the platform when starting a new phase.

If this is the direction GW2 is heading i'm done, i'm not going to buy anymore content.. I feel the game has slowly degraded since Tyria and well i guess its not aimed at players like me so why waste money on content i cannot do or get..

Buying EoD was a mistake and one i wont forget in a hurry.

And no chance i'll touch discord again, far to much malware floating through that.

I hope it will develop into a Tequatl way, meaning that in the end every group large enough will succeed, even without preparations.

I hope they are not going to nerf the meta!

I just finished the meta again with a group that was organized without an hour of complicated preparation. I hopped in with my Engineer (who needed the meta for a collection), wasn't even on a raid build (I usually use condition builds there, but tonight it was an open world power build).

Everyone simply knew the mechanics, we had high DPS and excellent CC: https://i.imgur.com/yEzKV2y.jpg

We were on Discord, but it felt very relaxed and casual.

It's really not "magic", just people knowing their stuff.

I will admit to that behavior, but it was when i was farming camp counselor (defend 250 camps).

Kitty led a DE meta today and ofc we finished the preps at :57 which meant full hour of having to afk and not being able to go to other maps while waiting. Kinda sucks since there's no banker nor TP on the map. Having to wait such a long time really kinda eats away from motivation of even trying to do the meta.

But when we got to action, stuff went pretty well as Kitty organized the squad with heals and boons somewhat covered in all 10 5-person subsquads and calling out what to do thru squad announcements...until boss where RNG showed its ugly head again. Boss did a couple double-bites. Wasn't too bad. What really killed the run was literally every CC going up when squad was killing the tail, which happened 3 times. We managed to get the first CC down but not the latter 2. Failed boss during last 20%. And this was pretty much as organized as you can get thru LFG without having to resort to voice comms or without gating the squad with precise endgame build requirements (though that might be required apparently) while hoping for tails and breakbar not being simultaneous.

So yeah. Kinda doesn't feel right if you get literally 0 rewards for 2,5hrs of gameplay while commanding something a lot more difficult than even solo-commanding undernumbered (8-10 peoples per lane) Dragon's Stand map to success. At least you can still open the chests/pods on failed HoT metas for some reward.

Another clear. That makes 15 successes, 1 loss since the 15th patch. I'm not sure how the majority of people keep failing. I have the log and vod from the latest clear if anyone wants to see it.
