Bought expansion from 3rd retailer

Recommended Posts

Hello, i bought PoF&HoT from 3rd party retailer like 2-3 years ago. I read some entries in forum those 3rd party retailer may be risky (like getting banned). I have +3k hours on game with +20k achievement points but now it started to panic me out about it. So my question is, am i ok if 2-3 years passed to confirm that my keys are legit? Please give me relief about that.

You bought a key and dident acivate it?

Well best bet is to ask anet if it is legit before applying it.

If it is already on your account, stolen credit cards can usualy only charge back within up to max 6 months i think.

So, you are accusing ArenaNet/NCSoft of advertising third-party retailers in their News Blogs and website just so they can ban those that use them?  What a silly thought!  You are aware that many purchase through Amazon, Best Buy, etc.?  That when Core released physical retail stores offered Guild Wars 2?

Here's some official information (just like the ToS):  https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/search?utf8=✓&query=official+retailer&commit=Search

I have bought expansion keys and gemcards from 3rd party businesses for many years (dating back to the release of the game as a boxed physical edition, and up to the latest End of Dragons release).

A quick count came up with 7 expansions and 13 gemcards bought within the last 5 years for several accounts, there was never a single problem with any of them. Sometimes I just got/won store credit for free and didn't really have anything else I wanted to buy, so I bought gems or an expansion for an alt account or friend, just to support the game.

  • You can buy game keys from ArenaNet ==> safe-ish, but you risk a ban if your payment gets charged back. (If you want a refund you will need to ask support, and not charge back the money)
  • You can buy game keys from authorized retailers ==> safe
  • You can buy game keys from unauthorized retailers ==> probably still safe, but you're on your own. If the keys happen to come from fraud your account may be banned. And you will need to fight it out with the seller of the key to get your money back.
  • You can buy game keys from random sources like eBay ==> probably still safe, but you're on your own. If the keys happen to come from fraud your account may be banned. And you will need to fight it out with the seller of the key to get your money back.
