Suggestion: Harvest temple for every profession asc trinket?

Recommended Posts

So it seems you need to do harvest temple twice, per every profession you want to unlock the ascended named trinkets at the eod strike merchant. Not only that but it seems you can only buy the trinkets once per account? I get that this is a relatively cheap way to buy ascended trinkets but these seem like a lot of limits and hurdles you have to jump through for ascended trinkets you can only buy once and have to do harvest temple for EVERY profession.

I'm one for challenging content but this just seems like unnecessary red tape. Not to mention your ability to do harvest temple for the elite spec you want requires you to have a profession that is actually good for that strike. Considering that not every profession has high demand roles, it seems some elite specs will have it harder unlocking the trinkets than others.

Why not just make it so you can do harvest temple on any profession but in order to unlock the trinkets you have to do it after you finish the collection (i think it works like this already, you just wouldn't be forced to do harvest temple on a profession you don't want or can't take)? Sure the work around is you finish every collection first, and then you do the harvest temple strike twice and then you're done but even that requires a lot of leg work of getting 9 collections done before you do harvest temple.  Right now, more than it being about effort, the way it's set up is just unfair for anyone who isn't a firebrand, mechanist, druid, or banner warrior.

As for letting you only buy the trinket once, seems like a good way to get people to stop engaging with the content. If anything, you have two options: make it so every time you buy the trinket the price in shards and gold goes up or make it so every time you want to buy the same trinket again, you have to do harvest temple again to sort of "refresh" your stock. I am a fan of the second option if I'm forced to choose between the way it is now or paying higher prices for every time you buy it. At least my suggestion requires you engage with the content more than twice and keeps people coming back to do harvest temple.

Anyway please consider these changes. I do like harvest temple but I'm not sure I would love it as much if I had to play on a profession I dont like.

I agree with you. I have a group with whom I do the harvest temple weekly but in that group I usually run quickness scrappper to provide quickness, so not much room to play another class there. Yes I know other classes can also provide quickness but having to learn the whole rotation for just two times I need to play it in a specific strike mission is not very motivating.

Last Tuesday I tried to pug it on an elementalist my second most confident class and it went okayish sadly did not get the kill. I am sure I can get it done on some classes but also not looking forward to having to do it on others. I think a good mechanic would be that in order to get all the trinkets you have to complete the harvest temple 18 times with whatever class you prefer. Still twice for each class but  no longer tied to the specific class. You could consider making adding a third kill if you are not using the designated class to still give players an incentive to play it on different classes.

True, not a clever design, it's easy for classes that you already play and quite hard for others....but unless you need those trinkets fast, you can do it over  time. You take a class, chose a role, gear up, learn the rotation ….. or join as it and hope the other 9 players will do HT for you as a gift (seen it already).

from a narrative point of view, "ministry approved (class)" should be just that...

i've already done this for 4 classes, the rest i can probably do in a dps role, but not sure if i can even dps elementalist...

then do it a support heal tempest.

That is pure nonsense, you are forcing me to play classes I never played seriously in years (because I just want these achies done).

I just hope when more people get to this point and rant (because they surely will), anet will notice this totally flawed design.

Just allow me to purchase those trinkes by completing Harvest Temple twice (or even 10 times), but with my main class, not with classes like thief and ele that I don't use.

While I'd agree getting every spec weapon collection before you can even start getting access to the ring / amulet / trinket is a bit tedious, I clearly don't think beating twice HT is a problem. You'll need the shards to afford the gear anyway.
Also theres a good amount of easy to reach alternatives : season of dragons leg amulet, options all over S3/S4 currencies, ...

Why would you expect [class] achievement to be done without playing [class]

It's the amount of effort I'm criticizing, I had no problem playing every class up to this point (=completing class collection, which is doing events/meta/general random stuff), but Harvest Temple is a different story.

I can do Harvest Temple with my main class with medium difficulty (and a good squad) but doing it with other classes I don't usually play...I will only be a burden for my squad, and for a stupid reason.

Look for some low intensity builds for the classes you dont know and advertise the squad as such, then you will get people who play the same or wont complain carrying you.

Ok but this can't possibly be a problem just for me. I know of a bunch of people who mostly know 1/3 classes and have no clue on the others, with this move anet will flood squads with those players.

Lol the "make your own squad"-answer again...

No! I won't advertise my own squad on lfg, I don't like to lead and organize squads, I will join other squads, blame anet for making me join as a mesmer (a class I didn't touch in years).

Fair enough.
I also included stuff like winning pvp matches among "class achievements", and thus expected you'd need to master your classes at least a little anyway, but if you only do pve achievements, makes sense

Oh...it's just poorly designed and runs antethical to gw2's core philosphy. No wonder i couldn't purchase it even though i met the requirements of completing it on my mechanist while having completed the weapon specialist on my warrior.

Maybe it's just me but there's some classes i don't play in group content and some i do. I'd rather not have to run literally every combination through the wringer just to get new stats for rings which we can only get 1 of currently (excluding legendary).
