So they keep doing more and more changes to what you can salvage for research notes with these updates constantly. So I gotta ask what exactly can we salvage that's on a budget player (like myself) that's even left? Seems like they keep cutting out all the easy stuff. You can't even salvage the coffee anymore......

I've been crafting and salvaging lv75 fine barbaric helms since I started EoD. If you buy all the materials, it's 4 silver 50 copper for 5 research notes, which amounts to roughly 1 silver per note (it used to give 10 notes before nerf though 😞 ). Pretty cheap. Never bothered with coffee or potions.

That last things I salvaged for Research Notes were superior sigils I bought on the Trading Post.

But not all kinds of superior sigils are salvageable, so you should buy a single one first, before splurging on entire stacks.

To be honest they should add some kind of tooltip to state if an item can be researched. It'd save time looking up if an item is craftable, if it was disabled due to being "too cheap" (they hate people having fun, it's getting on my nerves) and letting you just buy off the tp without experimenting with 1 item so you can buy a stack.

And I've been doing it with wintersday food I had lying around. Probably any of those festival ones would do since most should be craftable... until Anet decides you aren't salvaging exotics or ascended and keeps disabling items. The bad thing is get ready to spam clicks or use something to do it for you. After all this time still no "research all" option, something that already exists lol.
