EoD maps, empty feeling

Recommended Posts

Ok so like core had alot of events poping all the time some triggerable and others just nearly on refresh every 10 minutes

HOT had more then just events but adventures and metas that changed the dynamic of each map

PoF had well what felt like less events but had bounties and races and still some adventures

why does EOD feel like its missing Adventures, Bounties and so many other quality of life things the other maps had, like the maps feel horribly empty and the more im grinding the exp for the masteries the more i cant help but think their is a major lack of quality exp to be gained, like i thought hot was slow but EoD feels way slower even with the well rested bonus

look i love the maps i just feel that they needed to add some things like adventures in there even core has beetle racing

Most of the events are gated behind talking to NPCs.  Not all of them are marked.

while i agree some are like that alot are also group events but when the maps feel empty it does make the exp gain alot slower then it should be

I was in echovald for 20 mins before I saw an event pop up. I went back to Bjora and Frostgorge there as always something happening. Kaineng I agree is just a ghost town and when you do find an event, any nearby players just run past them because it’s not worth their time.

Bounties, adventures, races, griffon runs… I’d take more hearts at this point out of desperation

It is especially noticeable in New Kaineng, better known as a Ghost Town. I've never seen a city so dead, it looks like a post-apocalyptic city.

Yeah that place is emptier than my relationships, there needs to be a dusk/dawn transition event where a bunch of NPCs go to or get off of work and flood the streets please. Make a named NPC that feeds cats. Have some NPCs get mugged and ask players for help catching the thief. Let players with skiffs and turtles make some money taxiing NPCs to their destinations. Force players to wait for ages in line at every noodle stand in the city to get a title that, when equipped, allows them to critique food for a tabloid through a minigame that rewards them for correct judgment of quality. Put some NPCs around those purist and brotherhood recruiters that must be escorted to the precinct for questioning and deputize players that do this ten times, which gives them the ability to patrol the streets in an official capacity and rise up the ranks by making lawful arrests, culminating in an event where they suspect corruption within the ranks and team up with internal affairs to politely request a testimony from the thief they caught earlier, eventually outing the sheriff as a brotherhood sympathizer and detaining him in a skiff chase strike mission please.

That’s some great city storytelling right there.

It’s also the sort of imaginative map story telling Anet used to be so good at

That sounds awesome lol. And you get an uniform and a whistle and a police raptor. And you can run around with your police raptor whistling on people and yelling nothing to see here, move along  and giving other players speeding and parking tickets that dont really do anything.

I agree with you,  the Cantha city does fill empty and your ideas are good.   The city needed feel "alive", I mean all those vendors only few of the you can buy the usual items a player can buy anywhere.  It would be nice to buy noodles, new recipes, or even tourist trinkets.

Event finding range is way too short for these huge maps.

And yeah, they feel empty. There's already too many metas in rotation, so most players are just going to hit up whatever gets them gold/hr our legendary/reward progress the fastest. Regular events just don't matter.

And it's pretty bad when a lone player can stumble into a champ-level fight with a screen full of particle effects (everything had shield auras) and several adds and... yeah, it was an awful encounter. Would've been great to have other players help out.

I agree given emptiness and the various gang like groups running around. From a story perspective, it makes me wonder how they ever managed to build the city.in the first place.

Once I finish the masteries and achievements, I don't think I'll be visiting that region much. I really wish I hadn't wasted the money on the expansion for my second account. So much of the expansion was a disappointment. Skiffs and fishing could have been introduced outside of Cantha for pre-orders months ago as an incentive for pre-purchase. The Jade bots are a shadow of what they could be. They could have used existing magic energy storage in the wallet and glued together many disjointed elements like scanners, messaging, mail, etc.You can't even fly the things around without Cantha specific terminal stations. Many of us thought we'd be able to fly them around to take screenshots but no. There is a chunk of Dragon's End that is  unreachable but could have made for a great roller beetle raceway.
