Poeple sitting at home node all game

Actually, someone sitting at home node all game is much better than people who just over-rotate constantly and don't defend nodes.

All you have to do when someone insists on camping home, IS STOP PUSHING FAR for anything other than decap and run. Just defend home and mid, and only decap far and run away. Just defend home and mid.

The situation is much worse when you have players who never are at the home node because they insist on constantly moving around and never defend anything.

You can actually design a defense around guys who want to sit home all game.

Depends on situation.

People who sit on home when the thief, and possibly the entire enemy team, are clearly on mid or far probably isn't a good idea. It is definitely helpful when you have, maybe, a thief constantly trying to sneak in a decap - you can waste their time while keeping the node.

It really depends on where your enemy's mobile fighters are and what they're trying to do (or not trying to do).

Could end up in 2 vs 1 - node-wise if the remaining team is 4 and the  enemies switch between the other 2 nodes cleverly. I'd recommend to adapt to the situation. With an annoying thief in the enemy team you might end up having to defend home a lot though ...

and not defending at all is the biggest problem. Too many get baited into endless combat on a node that stays neutral (during the endless combat) while for the other 2 nodes the enemy just decaps home (while still having their home capped) ... and no one bothers to recap or everyone almost downed elsewhere and/or skills on CD and slow to move back to home (where recapping takes longer than the thief needed to uncap).

I like defence, wish it happened more tbh.

Most of my WvW experience has been running in a circle capping and recapping with very little defending.

It's mind numbingly tedious and one of the main reasons I haven't enjoyed WvW for all these years.

I real combat you capture and hold territory, that should be the same in WvW and the mode is a lot more fun when it does happen.

PvP is a game of adaptability, what strat will work depends on what you vs.

Sometimes yeah having someone sit home can help if the enemy roamer is very aggressive.

Its precisely why i prefer running more damage heavy Thief builds than stuff like Shadow Arts that can just get stalled by this as i can swing back the numerical advantage to my team's favor elsewhere as the enemy team is -1 from having their duelist camp their home.

But yeah in general single minded strats "me far, me home, me mid all day, me just decap" etc won't always work in Ranked and its why more versatile build/playstyles/mindsets tend to be favored.

In organized play things might be different as its easier to coordinate more specialised roles/builds/strats in that environment which is why the tournament meta often differ to some degree from the Ranked one.

Yes.

When guardian had that prime bunker build back in Esports Phase, the matches were decided by who could set up their second guardian on mid first, because after that neither guardian would be moved off point fast enough to cause a flip.

This is true, but it requires the team to be in on it. Which, frankly, I think should be simple enough to pick up on after the first node split.

Completely agree with you when we are talking teams full of players who should know what they are doing, say in ATs or even just g3+ games in general.

But when it comes to random dice throw ranked match making, you must expect to get low gold and silvers on your team who actually don't know what they're doing rotationally. Considering as much, if a team overextends far and loses in a 4v5 because a g1 was camping home, it is every bit the fault of the people who overextended as it is the person who is camping home.

Those players who are the better players in the match should KNOW not to do that. If they see a person camping home and not leaving, STOP PUSHING FAR. If you stop doing it but other teammates are still doing it, tell them to stop doing it.
