And none of those have an hour long mandatory "waste your time" part with no rewards in order to complete them. You can just try again next time it shows up. You can even organize Dragonfall and be done with the pre's faster than you have to wait for Dragon's End pre-pre-event.

What an hour long mandatory "waste your time part"? We do it to ourselves by going there early to get into a good group and then complain about it. The prep time for Dragonfall takes just as long. You just don't think so because you get some little chests of little value each time. Try going through the sequence from start to finish and see how long it takes. The only difference is the meta there is not on a fixed schedule. And the rewards are given in stages.

Also, thank you for pointing out that you can learn those meta events.

You can't learn DE because it's filled with RNG. So you don't get to perfect your movement, organization, skills, you're at the mercy of "will i get this event to overlap with another" and "when will she kittening stay put for 2 seconds so we can DPS her. 😉

You can't learn? Strange isn't it that quite a few regular groups that do the meta daily have winning rates in the high 90%? Personally, I just randomly join LFG groups, and so far as of last night, have won 34 out of 39. Of the 5 loses, 3 were at the very beginning right after episode release. 2 of them were after the updates: 1 at 1% because comm made the wrong call. Another was just a mess right from the start. Good groups usually finish with at least 3 to 5 minutes left on a regular basis. If it's impossible to learn, none of them will be doing it daily. Myself, included, since an hour and a half to 2 hours daily is a significant amount of time wasted to daily losses.

Just to clarify. I tend to look first for groups that I've run with previously whose commanders are knowledgeable, takes the time to do proper subgroups, lanes/splits assignments, proper marker placements and waystations on the arena, call-outs at all phases during the escorts to the final fights, etc. Also, always a bonus when they have lieutenants to help do call-outs.

You can't learn RNG. You CAN throw enough DPS at it to render the RNG irrelevant. That is not learning. It's like picking a lock versus smashing the lock. In both case you gain access to whatever the lock was protecting. One involves learning the other is hit it harder until it opens.

Quote

Did I say you can learn RNG anywhere? I was refering to this quote where it stated that "You can't learn DE". And yes, you can learn the meta, deal with the RNG and WIN.

Honestly, I'm baffled why some people are constantly losing this meta. Did you just join the meta without a tag? Or did the tag just pop up because someone randomly decided to make it a meta map 15 or 30 minutes before the event started? Or did you join a LFG group advertising "Meta Taxi"? Did the group that you joined, the commander didn't do anything except have a commander's tag? If it's any of those, then you're probably wasting your time.

Sometimes it is because I give up on clicking Join in Dragon's End and being told that that world is full after many attempts.

Sometimes it is because I don't know how to tell in advance whether a commander with a tag up is proficient at commanding the meta.

Sometimes there is no accessible commanded squad at all and I figure I'll just see what happens - which is usually failure, often before we even get to Soo-Won

And I guess all the time it is because I fail to join a discord server being used to organize the highly successful squads.  Some people take it for granted that you should join a discord server to participate in a meta, it's personally not my thing, and I'm willing to pay the price in failed metas to avoid having to.

Of all those I joined, less than 1/2 used Discord. And none of them will kick you for not having it. I do join the channels if they have it, and so far, there's only 1 group that I will actually listen to. The rest, I stopped joining their discord channels. Discord is not my thing either. Just convenient in some rare cases.

Very few actually used it for call-outs during the meta. It's more that they are too impressed with and like listening to their own voices. Same as streaming their game-plays. Yeah, right, I totally enjoy hearing you talk about your boring daily routines or watch you play your game, instead of playing my own game and having fun.

Assuming the commander's ego is so huge that they demand you join their channel or will be kicked, just leave the squad. Not necessary to be in the squad to join the fights.

As far as I can see the only effect of the preparation phase is to make the meta take two hours instead of one and force players to loiter around on the map for long periods.  Would the meta be less of an experience for players if you cut out the preparation phase and scaled the health pools of the opponents back by the amount of the buffs?

Each of the phases explains the mechanics for escort + Soo-Won platform and the side platforms at 60% and 20%. Including CC, picking up essences, moving out of stuff, CC, more CC, etc. It's a group bonding time, too, when you do a pre-made.

I haven't attempted the full meta again since I got my first win, that was in a group that formed spontaneously on the map early enough that we all had time to do all the prep and get the maximum buffs.  We had a commander who put us into subgroups and gave instructions so that was helpful, and it did feel like a bonding experience since there were a lot of people who were still pretty new to the meta and were very grateful to see everyone take it seriously.

I just unlocked my turtle this afternoon after getting the strike mission done.  I have all those turtle mastery tracks to work on now so I'll be back doing the meta regularly.  I'm really interested to see how it goes now that people have had more time to experience it.
