Amazing Tower Defense Builds (no clickbait, must read!!!!)

Time a real post. I will put down here some builds that make tower defense easy as hell, or basically can only operate while being on top of a wall. I want to see your ideas too. Fun thread. Let's start.

  • You basically go somewhere near the edge and pop your bubble, preferably on top of a cannon to deny projectiles from hitting, weaponswap to heal, only use energy to upkeep the bubble, if no projectiles come your way maybe swap to dwarf for pre-stab/pre-elite or even during combat. Mainly use the bubble tho permanently.

  • Major component of your offensive assets in tower defense. Near constant Barrage pressure, with 3 to 4 Soulbeasts being enough to opress an entire zerg. Safe firing distance and the ability to share some heal/boon/cleanse. Aformentioned rev and Renegade can provide extra stab and cleanse. One can bring a couple of spirits to augment firepower.

  • Stationed near the ranger brigade, the renegade ensures to cover with stability the fellow arrowcart rangers, as well as protection and more importantly the spirit buffs and alacrity for even higher firepower. Can also occasionally pop some shortbow skills below like SB 4 or on self to blast for some might share.

  • The big healer of the group, leave heal turret near rangers and pop the elixir shot from mortar when not building. Quickness and superspeed make siege building easier for you and allies. Can repair quickly as well. When not building, quickness output can ensure even greater firepower, stab dome for cover stab and projectile denial if Core rev is slacking or on another spot.

  • A classic permastealth capable thief that can port allies inside objectives, share Basi venom with strong rangercarts, who is usually the one to camp stealth and wait for the enemy to drop their guard and disable their siege. Also has the added capability of mean stripping/CC with Shortbow 4.

  • Pop stances of favor while casting Rampage with Dragon/Centaur/Turtle Banner in hand. Solo the enemy zerg for a few seconds, proceed to flee till you get your cooldowns back. Also empowering your arrowcart rangers. Minstrel SpB a viable alternative at the cost of tactics for boonstrip if the enemy dares to step into your beloved tower and more evasion frames with FC. A berserker with longbow can bring a couple of actual banners to provide superior ranger firepower.

  • Between Illusion for you wall defense homies, Feedback on rez boosted by rune of mercy, high personal and aoe stealth uptime, some good boons/heals and the ability to coop with the aformentioned thief and burst down enemies inside your tower, or claim enemy towers, you are a great puller!

That's about it nothing else comes to mind right now as a niche build. Maybe some form of guardian, but I am not feeling creative with guardian right now xD

I think the effectiveness of Barrage is being exaggerated.  It does have nice reach, but it has a long cooldown and damage equivalent to a single guardian symbol or a single necromancer well.  Basically ranger AOE damage is bad.

 

You would be better off replacing them with weavers.  Weavers have tons of AOEs and better AOE damage.  The mist form downstate skill makes them nearly impossible to kill while defending.

As a ranger main, yes.  If an arrow cart itself can do your job...

There are limited scenarios where this would be true i.e. the enemy has just placed siege catapults and then left momentarily to do something else and come back and the siege is already half health.

The DPS is still worse over time compared to Weaver and successfully landing two meteors on a full Zerg on the other side of the parapet without being pulled off/bombed into oblivion is twice as difficult as it is regularly.

I don't mean to be a negative Nancy, but it won't be nerfed because it's not OP, it's the only trick that staff catalyst has. Kudos to anyone who can actually keep the max stat buff up because you'd need a lot of auramancers spamming auras next to you just to reach comparable DPS to Weaver over time. It will do more damage than Weaver within half a minute, but less damage within one minute, and MUCH less damage in two minutes.

That being said, glass staff Weaver is another excellent tower defender build. Dodge onto the ledge, Burning Rereat and cast meteor shower off the ledge as you pull back, repeat. I guess Catalyst is good too but you'd have to stand exposed on the ledge while you full cast + elite, and then you'll still do less DOT because you won't be able to double meteor again for awhile and now the rest of your Mets just do mediocre half-buffed catalyst damage

Real ones get 5 stealthtrapperDH´s and just put 10 traps under the siege and watch the enemy get completly chombompled by the traps...  Thats what real legends would do!

Ah so a kill switch to your siege, very interesting concept. Ideally you want the enemy to not come inside in the first place though 😭

nono! i mean run under them in stealth and then plant the bomb right at their feet! 😄
