Dragonfall Meta

Recommended Posts

Last night, NA prime time, I spent a couple of hours in Dragonfall. I’m working on Vision and the season dailies were in that zone, so I thought it’d be good to work on that portion of the Vision 1 achievement.

No groups listed in lfg.

I port in and see people there doing things. One person is calling out bridges in map. Camps get fully upgraded. I’m with a handful of other players escorting an Asura around to build the widgets so we can attack Kralkie.

Popup. Low population, would you like to switch maps?

Im confused, since the pre events are moving along. Do we have enough people to see the meta through? I ask in chat. No response.

Well, at this point the thing I need is a post meta ley line critter, so I go looking for another instance.

I check LFG. Nothing.

I find a map with a commander running around. Camps get to 3/4.

Popup. Low population, would you like to switch maps? I check, and the commander has tagged down or left entirely.

Did I leave the first map prematurely? Would we have been able to see the meta through?

This was prime time, Dragonfall daily. Is everyone off killing Soo Won? Or playing Lost Ark? Except the previous night people were doing Palawadan and meteor farming.

So has Dragonfall meta lost its draw? Was it because you could do all the dailies without completing the meta?

Except someone was specifically doing bridges so there must be others pursuing Vision still, right? And that requires getting through the meta, too.

It’s been a good while since I’ve tried the Dragonfall meta. Last night’s experience was so different than in the past it left me confused.

I do Dragonfall meta once a day (sometimes twice, sometimes I won’t, but that’s pretty much it).

It’s still very populated in EU.

Dunno if it’s a NA issue or you are simply being unlucky/playing at weird times.

Maybe just a weird night?

This was prime time NA. 9-11 Eastern, so 6-8 Pacific.

It was startling to me to be in a map that got all the camps upgraded and then went to low population.

Even if you don't have a tag you can start a taxi group in LFG to get people into the map. You just have to remind people to leave the group once they're in the right map, because it will only allow 10 people. You could also put in the LFG message that you've got a map with camps fully upgraded or whatever point you're up to but no commander and someone might join who feels like commanding.

Yup. Yup.

Similar thing happened to me last weekend. For whatever reason, there's a group of people who play Dragonfall until 4/4 camps , then abandons the map. Just wait, it'll fill back up before Kralkatorrik.

I did think about this. I was a little nervous to open an invite to a map that seemed to be dwindling. Next time I’ll have to try it. Maybe just list “taxi to all camps 4/4” or something, so it’s not misleading that there’s some kind of coordinated group?

Weird.  I don't do Dragonfall much, but I was looking for somewhere to do a little testing on the droprate of those jade bot modules that give materials from kills.  I zoned into a map and the meta started within minutes and was completed within minutes.

It seems to me with the amount of loot you get for a fairly quick and easy event, it wouldn't be difficult to just tag up and taxi people in for this.  You don't really have to coordinate anything.  Just be a target for people to jump in.  That's usually what I do for low-effort metas if nobody else is tagging up and it's the right time for it.

Well… you DO need coordination on DF tbh. That’s the reason way less people tag up compared to maps like DC, where the Commander is more of an aggregator cuz mechanics are self explanatory. In DF, there is a pattern to follow that you have to learn. Of course, you can get to meta even without, but doing events randomly is a huge waste of time and a great g/hr loss.

To the OP, never leave Dragonfall when the low map population do you wish to change maps thing pops up, particularly when camps are clearly upgraded.

It is a well know fact that Kralkatorik is in charge of that popup. The moment you click on it you are probably going to end up on a new map with nothing done and thereby give Kralk some breathing space.

In all seriousness, the low population/change map popup is a pain in the backside on this map. It's been like that since release, even when some of the maps were busy. Stay where you are. Unless it really is the wee small hours of the night the map should progress.

I admit I have not done DF since EoD's release, but I frequently had the low-population popup before that. I would stick to my original map and the meta would pretty much always get through. Maybe it's because the 'DF regulars' know the drill so well they don't bother with a commander anymore?
