Your not casting a skill from 2,400 range on ele your using your MS at 1,200 range and using a set of well timed skill to move you another 900 to 2,100 away from your start cast point. This is how channel skills work in gw2. It just take other skills to let you move with root cast skills vs say non root (where you can use both MS effects and non channel brake skills to let you move more during the cast of long channel skills.)
