Shane.8374
I am an older Quake player who has been out of gaming for about 15 years. I got a new gaming rig when I heard about Quake Champions. I have a buddy that lives in Tacoma that I wanted something we could get into together and we decided on this amazing game. At this point, I have played a couple classes to level 6 or 7 and just love the game, but I am completely overwhelmed. Trying to learn by reading about stuff on the forums is like reading another language sometimes ! I knew I wanted to join a guild and wrote down the forum names I got off some posts, but couldn't even figure out how to add the names to my friends list so I could chat. I looked it up today and it looks like I can press Y and enter one of these names that end in a period and 4 numbers so I will try that when I get home. My point with that boring example is that even some of the most basic things escape me at this point, and as I am trying to read and learn, I run across words like Fractal and boon and I am like , WTF does that even mean ! I am neither unintelligent or a slow learner, but I could really use some solid instruction and would love to be in a guild who had a couple of people in it who were patient enough to give me step by step direction from A to Z for a while. I have an hour or two most weeknights and can play much more Friday and Saturday nights, and Sunday during the Day. I am in the central time zone if that helps. When I join a Guild, my friend who has been playing games like this for over a decade will join the same guild with me, so you will get a noob and an experienced player in a package deal. Thanks for reading !
Butch.4957
While I cannot guarantee anything specific, feel free to add me to your friends list and I will explain everything I can. I have been looking for reason to log back into the game after making a few legendary weapons. Teaching might be a rewarding experience. Also, make sure to use map chat (map-wide chat anyone can see and answer) to ask questions if you do not have anyone specific ask. To access map chat you type /m on your keyboard.I will go ahead and answer the two terms that you threw up before. A boon is like a temporary buff or enchantment. For example, regeneration gives you health regen for x amount of time, and swiftness will give your character 33% faster movement speed for a limited amount of time. There are other buffs as well but most of them are self explanatory.Fractals are high level end game dungeons you gain access to only after you reach lvl 80 ( you might be able to get in before, can’t remember. But it is not recommended to do so) that have some really great rewards as you increase your fractal level (level of dungeon you have access to. Upgraded by completing the current or higher level you currently have access to).Edit: came back and read through my post. Had to edit some grammatical errors, I hate typing on my phone and using voice-to-text...

Kaltyn of Torbins Deep.294
Couple of suggestions for gaining experience:Always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS make sure you're running some kind of food. Once I hit level 10, I like to use Bowl of Candy Corn Custard since it gives +15% experience from every kill and lasts 45 minutes.Always make sure you're running the experience buff from the bartender in the guildhall - assuming you have a guild with a GH and that you have Heart of Thorns. They last for 24 in-game hours.Kill EVERYTHING. Even the yellow animals in the world, you get experience for each kill, plus your bonus from the food and other buffs.Harvest EVERYTHING - you get experience from harvesting plants, chopping down saplings, and mining ore.Map completing the 5 racial capital cities plus Lion's Arch will grant you enough experience for 5 to 8 levels on average.Training crafting disciplines grants you experience as well, but you may want to hold off on that until you've gathered enough resources to make it worth while. Crafting guides like gw2crafts.net help tremendously. At level 10, your personal story missions unlock. Do them. You don't have to drop what you're doing and run off after them, but do spend the time to do them. Good experience gain, and it lays the groundwork for the later stories. Also forces you to explore maps you might not have gotten to yet.Don't worry about power vs. condition builds as you're leveling up, learn the differences and be aware, but don't worry about it. Worry about that once you get to 80.Ignore the forums when people are posting stuff like "warrior is dead" or "reaper is trash", etc., etc. Things change in the game from time to time...and the forums are good for over-reacting. By the time you hit level 80, you will have had enough hero points to fully train all of your skills and specializations. Then your elite specs will become available for training. So don't worry that spending hero points to train a spec early on will handicap you later, it will not.Doing your dailies will grant you writs of experience. You can use them or trade them for Tomes of Knowledge with Miyani at the Mystic Forge in Lion's Arch. 20 writs will buy you 1 ToK. Each ToK will bump you up a level. I think just using the writs will get you a full level with 20, but I'm not 100% sure. Login every day. Even if all the time you have is just to login, click the login chest, and then log back out. Those chests come with some "unique" rewards. Also, you will get free Tomes of Knowledge from some of the login rewards - those are free levels.I guess I ended up with more than a couple. Welcome to GW2. Now get out there and kill things!!!
