Why does the mouse pointer disappear when I hold the right mouse button down?

You want mouse pointer to stay on screen when you pan the camera?

Yes, I want to see that mouse pointer at all times. Why is that such a bad thing? Often times I am moving in one direction but want to jaunt in a completely different direction quickly but lose track of the mouse and end up in a bad spot. Normally I wouldn't care with normal dodge roll, but mesmer mirage doesn't have that. Using jaunt without the mouse pointer often puts me in bad spots.

Yea, I probably need more practice with it but that doesn't mean a mouse pointer is unnecessary.

Or if they increased jaunt range from 450 to 800 it would solve a lot of the aggravation. But I highly doubt they'll do that.

There was a bug on yolomouse on that persistent mouse pointer, its unpleasant.
Example, when initially your mouse was on the center of screen then you pan the camera, the mouse shoots out to the direction of your panning to, when you release the right click, it teleports back to the center of your screen (aka the last position your pointer before you press the right click)

Meaning, you will get confused on the position of your mouse after panning and casting specially during high paced fights.
You can try it yourself though.

I dunno what the GW2 mouse pointer does, but if I let go of rmb the pointer its where it was before. It shouldn't be impossible to lock it in one place while rmb is held and keep it visible, based on some preference.

The main reason you lose track of the pointer is rotating the camera and forgetting where it was (or at least for me). I'd rarther see it at all times than use the high contrast weird looking pointer.

This is not a bug, exactly how the game cursor operates. Hold right click and move it over chat panel or minimap and use wheel to zoom in/out to see it works. When you release right click, cursor will be teleported back to where it started panning.

For the OP, seeing accelerated cursor visible during panning would give you more problems than what you have currently. Unless Anet removes all the cursor and camera related effects and accelerations or make them more consistent with player expectation as being used.

I prefer to have it invisible during the pan.

I was able to reproduce what you are describing by right clicking on the "empty ground" and while holding the right mouse button down, panning the camera around.  The mouse automatically disappears.  I'm reasonably certain that this is hardcoded into the game overwriting the windows/mouse cursor options and there is no game/mouse/operating system option that can resolve this.

But there is a option.

The GW2 TaCO overlay program has a "Mouse Highlight" option which puts a vertical and horizontal line on your screen to indicate exactly where your mouse pointer is.  I found this to be invaluable in group combat because you can easily lose track of your mouse with all the visual noise.  It can be distracting out of combat but the Taco utility does give you an option to assign a hotkey to toggle it on/off.  I assigned ']' to toggle the mouse highlight and '[' to toggle range circles.  The overlay utility also does a ton of other stuff, which you can toggle off and not be bothered with.

EDIT: I did find a game option that may help: on the GW2 Options General tab the "Use Show Ally Names Key Bind to Find Mouse Cursor".  You may also try experimenting with that.

Guess I have to redownload TaCO again. I generally only used it to finish masteries, jumping puzzles, and adventures. Never bothered much with the other features. But if it helps with the mouse location, I'll give it a try later on.

Thanks.

You can change the ground targetting to "fast with range indicator" oooor just turn your camera before using the skill. The mouse cursor is always at the same place it was before you've pressed the rmb.

The TacO Mouse Highlight can be a little too distracting since the lines will span your screen. A better option might be the BlishHUD mouse cursor module. When you check the box Show When Camera Dragging, whatever enhancements option you use will always remain.
