I like goblins and imps. So far it's just skritt in gw2 and it gets old.

I know, right?

Skritt are everywhere.

It's almost as if they are being used as a stock filler... after the first choice of monsters, which are also usually centaurs, or bad-guys versions of the five races, or dragon minions.

Nuckelavee

I could get behind this, especially if they REALLY pushed the limits of that Teen rating with the design to try to match the horror these things are supposed to induce.

Here's a good video for those that are unfamiliar:

Is it really, though?  A phoenix?  To me, it is a sad representation of one.

It's a Fenghuang, a Chinese or Asian phoenix, which has very little in common with the western fire bird except the English name and being a bird associated with the sun. (And being mythical of course.)

Also proper krakens, like the one in clash of the titans

That version of Kraken was invented for that movie. Kraken are not from Greek mythology, they are of Norwegian origin and are generally described in a manner resembling a giant octopilus, squid, or similar.

Right.

But I still like the greek version better.

It would be a massive awesome boss in gw2... imo, off course.

I think what he was saying is that "Kraken" do not exist in greek mythology. So there is no greek version, just a english-invented interpretation of greek mythology.

I'd say the closest thing to kraken in greek mythology are either Cetus, Scylla or Charybdis.

I was thinking more along the lines of something Fiend and humanoid form and tenticles.

There is no Greek version.

Copying creatures from works of fiction, created for that work of fiction, that are covered by copyright laws would be a recipe for disaster financially.

Nobody is saying nor suggesting to copy anything.

That's why concept artists exist.

I don't think that coming up with a version of a kraken that looks more like a fiend than a squid is stealing any copyright.

I think that you are overreacting about a simple idea sharing.

“Release the Kraken!”

Yeah.

Would make for a truly terrifying boss fight.

Actually, I think the 6 Gods themselves should be the next threat in Tyria, and each one would have a champion.

Perhaps Balthazar could comeback and release the kraken.
