Game crashing (since the end of july) after character select & "Coherent GPU process crashed"

Recommended Posts

Hi,

For people getting in trouble since around 19-30 of July...

Crashes occurring after character select with "Coherent GPU process crashed" in the report.

If you have a d3d9.dll file in your GW2/bin64 directory, try to delete, or better to keep a backup, rename d3d9.dll with a .old at the end, it could solve your problem !

Start the game again en enjoy...

(Guessed reason : It looks like CoherentUI try to use such a DLL if it's present but the GW2 client now use DX11 and not DX9 so... it crash the game.)

I hope it will help some of you.

Man, I was so filled with hope that was my case >.< I don't have said dll in gw2 folder.

What is your host operating system? Playing on linux and after that  update I barely can use BLTC, after couple searches game just crashing to desktop. And from time to time it just doesn't want to start, "bla bla bla CoherentUI" error message.

Sigh.

Gonna try clean reinstall.

hi,

Linux user too, I gave up years ago about GW2 on linux ...and still use Windows 7 to play.

I don't know if it could help you but it looks like the problem I described was related with an old ArcDPS DX9DLL and the fact GW2 now uses DX11 instead of DX9.

So the game client now need DX11 and there should be updates to make for you... On Linux it might be in Wine ?

Good luck...

Was all set to quit, but this seems to have worked for me!
