Ping during August beta - unplayable

WvW is the only gamemode I play in GW2 and I've never suffered with latency issues. During this beta whenever any fights begin I get 3k ping lasting up to 5 minutes at a time leaving me unable to use any skills at all. Is anyone else experiencing this at all? 

 

The beta is confusing too. I'm on that awful Moogooloo server, a friend is also on this server (not a guildie) and we were both on the Moogooloo alpine border land however we were on separate maps? Couldn't join eachothers squads, both went to the garrison and we didn't show up for one another. So are there multiple Moogooloo's or what? Anyway, roll on next week when this hell is over.
