Mechs in PvP

Recommended Posts

There should be no more than one (1) mech allowed in pvp period, these mothers are so overpowered that its like fighting 4 people, and how is this supposed to be a balanced game, don't allow two of anykind of any profession to be in match, and also don't allow them to leave and change professions while in que, its clearly the devs never thought of this only "hey lets put this in the game, its cool, who cares about the outlash from the community"

one class per team will fix 50% of the balance issue that came from stucking.

for example, when necro was tanky, one necro alone can be focused down, but when they stacked 2 it became hard.

so is the triple thief comp now, one thief, it wouldn't be as terrible and allow for more dynamic team comps and counter comps.

but yea, too bad they can't implement this

people just end up stacking cheese, this is basically killed pvp 50%

Great suggestion, but i have a better one: there should be zero (0) mechanists in pvp. Not because its OP, but because its braindead low effort. I can assure you there are no chess grandmasters playing mech in pvp. This are the type of people who like 2v2/3v3, pick djinns dominion, ping beast 20 seconds before it spawns and then die to it. At the very least they should put all mechanists in separate  games and let them do 5v5 mechanists only.

They said that at Octomber , they would have created their manifesto about what class should offer .

Thankfully the latest patch (PvE only) showed that they will try balance differently in pvp + pve (hopefully)

"Overpowered"? Right now Engineer is arguably the worst class in PvP, and Mech is straight up irrelevant. You should be happy about facing 2 of them, youre gonna win.

The proper term for Mech is Cheese build, it is pretty effective if you don't have the kit to shut it down. Considering that people generally are not exactly thrilled to play support around plat and support is almost non existent bellow that one could get away with allot of kitten builds.
Engi might not be Tournament material currently, but it sure does make the rounds in the most Important part of SPVP now around the Steam launch, the starting ranks.

The problem is that mech only works at lower rating.

Its borderline unusable above gold 2. Its subpar vs anything meta. It gets kitten on by good catalysts and bladesworn if it tries to side node. If it doesnt sidenode its either super tanky but not bursty in mid and thus easily ignored. Or bursty but easily bursted down by the meta builds like power herald, blade sworn.

U know what works at that low rating vs mech? Core burn guard. At that rating ppl are convinced u have to fight on point.  Just cleave the entire team down incl the mechs. There is very little they can do about it if they fight on point, which they will since they are convinced it is the way.

The "kit to shut it down" is literally just having legs.

The kit is to have sustain, projectile denial or heavy mobility. The rifle build works almost exactly like Harbinger for damage  application it just doesn't have the invisa Gravity well. Don't downplay the terrible cheese design of the spec, low effort nonsense tends to pop up and plague the game for months like minionmancer or burn guard and mech is borderline.

Another major difference is that a big load of the damage comes from the mech. Which is an AI. A dumb AI.

I had a fight not too long ago where I was left at 15% health from fighting someone else, then a mechanist started fighting me. He couldn't kill me despite my low health, because all the mech damage didn't apply since I was simply running circles around a pillar.

The mech is so easily outplayed, it's laughable. You can deny way more damage by clever positioning and movement against a mechanist than you can against a harbinger. So yeah, all that is required is legs and a some thinking to not get killed by a rifle mechanist.

I think your description is on point. There are builds that are missing those elements and you really feel it when you fight them.

What is interesting with the lower effort builds (I would have added ft scrapper) is that they usually have a more strength / defense than what people describe. There are a lot more builds than the “meta” and ranked is not a coordinated environment. Those factors allow those builds to perform really well in the hands of low / middle tier players (which forums love to talk about) but even someone above average / high level (gold 3 / plat 1) can make use of them because they know how to (ab)use the strength and are aware of the weaknesses.

xDDDD do you really think that is how you deal with mech? Good heavens xDDD

No, it's a good strat - you take the mech out for a night on the town, make it feel special, buy it an expensive dinner. The trick here is to gain the Jade Mech's trust. That way, when you go into spvp, the Jade Mech will recognise you, and be conflicted between assisting its master, or defending you, its potential love interest. Then the Jade Mech turns on the Mechanist, and bada bing bada boom, easy side node.

I can't say OP .Annoying sure.Problem is minions aspect makes to PVP clusterkitten.Since pvp is objective base people with mechs ,pets stacking each others on node and You  canEt even recognize whats happening.İts absolute smoshpit of animations and effects. That's why Aoe builds in PVP so popular.Rather than focus just throw aoe and run.

Firebrand is like shoutsworns less powerful cousin

Indeed. Shoutsworn is a fire-breathing dragon setting entire villages ablaze, while firebrand is like its little sibling in an egg, too weak to break out, slowly suffocating in its shell. Yeah, they are both dragons.

Meh, anet's developer (or whatever team they made to focus on engineer) is a joke at this point.
