4th slot for elites only would be soo nice...

Trying to make a survivable and damaging power Reaper build I am struggling to fit all I need in.

First, Reaper itself because I absolutely adore whacking things with greatsword.

Second, Eternal Life from Soul Reaping because it's the only way to keep the lifeforce for shroud up.

Third, Unholy Sanctuary and Shrouded Removal from Death Magic to ward against the oneshots and huge mono condi stacks is no alternative either.

And fourth, the Spite for stacking might.

Seeing my problem here? I am one slot short of making my desired build.

You can't have everything you want. That's the point of the trait system (and similar systems like talents in WoW).

Every build is supposed to have some advantages and drawbacks (even if Arenanet fails at properly implementing both in several cases).

Well I too would like some space to fit Acrobatics onto my thief build but adding another specialisation slot for core trait lines would completely power creep the game so I don't see it happening at all.

Well you can try improving your reading skills so you do see that I said "elites only" in the header.

Also, easier on "completely power creep" drivel.

That I understand, and not ask for "everything" but for easing the uncomfortable restriction elite specialization puts on builds.

Anet's declared policy is to make things more pleasing for the players and I am certain extra elite-only specialization slot would please many.

Arguable. GW2's build system offers only bonuses and no penalties so in fact we are choosing between advantages and better personally suited advantages.

You literally asked for more defense and more offense. You are meant to chose one, not the other.

Choosing to go in one direction (for example offense) means you lack in other directions (for example defense).

Thus, a build theoretically has more advantages in one direction, while having less advantages in another.

The "problem" you listed literally is just I can't have everything I want from traits

Have you already looked into Sigils and Runes to get your Might instead of "needing" a fourth trait line? Superior Signet of Strength and Superior Rune of Strength might be to your liking.

Choosing to go 'extremely' in one direction. What I want is both 'good' offence and defence, not maximized both.

And I've found a way to do it with Signet of Undeath and Signets of Suffering somewhat replacing Eternal Life.

Spite is irreplaceable for generating 25 might stacks in couple seconds btw.

So yeah, my issue is solved, signing off.

Instead of having 4 trait lines, I would prefer if we had just 1 trait line. This would reduce the amount of bloat in the game, give core more variability in its gameplay, having 5 different play styles, and remove the problem of having key gameplay attributes (quick gen, alac, stunbreaks) on core without having implications for all especs.

We could also do nothing and stay with the same system. This was meant as a joke, but 1 trait line actually doesn’t sound so bad…

In the past, we already had a 4 trait lines system. It was removed to avoid what you want... Too powerful builds without trade-offs that do everything. And, at the end, as expected, only the builds that maximized everything was played.

What, maybe, could push them to expand the trait system in some way would be the addition of new mechanics to the game. For example: By adding hexes to the game and their counters.  Then, the traits for that new mechanics could be included by expanding the trait system. But they will do not want to increase the power creep so they'll probably do it by adding a new major to each tier for all the trait lines and that, will also let them space to include traits for untraited skill's type today,  like the necromancers wells that was removed in the past, etc.  You will have more options to customize your build but with the same amount of active traits.

if you need more might take runes of strength and some might sigils like battle or strength and you will have it. you don't need entire 4 traitlines.

Plus, might is not the only reason character has damage. With reaper you have more dps than mirage on 25 stacks of might already.

one more option, if you need boons which you dont generate you can play in party with support.
