Impossible to complete old meta events.

With the release of Path of Fire almost no one is doing meta events or anything else in general. It is nearly impossible to achieve certain collections especially for legendary's when huge groups of people are required for some meta events. I hope Anet has a solution for these dead maps and making the item collection achievement relevant to what is obtainable as the population of maps shifts.

Which meta are you talking about?

I have been quite surprised at how often I have plenty of help on meta events. I thought those events would be dead, but I've almost always had folks around.

Which ones are empty?

(p.s. I am sure some are empty ... probably longer, unrewarding ones ... would be nice to see better incentives rather than making cool, big events soloable)

I see the Bloodstone Shark "not" killed far more often than success. I'm in Frostgorge a lot truffle hunting on 20 chars. Tis pretty sad, but I want no part of a 3 person attempt on that unrewarding monster. It's D List content now, people have got it and moved on, and if you didn't get it in the first wave of interest it is gonna be frustrating. GW2 is good at this. Last week of Marionette vs 1st week, for example, among others. Content that requires a large mob of randoms often fails to consider that mob's short attention span. It's like depending upon Skritt, there has to be a lot of shinies.

Metas sometimes require diving into LFG, but can usually be found. The only thing I've found to be hard to get done is the bloodstone wyvern (last thing I need for that collection) but that seems determined to spawn at terrible times (5 min before night, so it despawns, or just after night boss choppers show, so everyone is elsewhere.)

All else fails, whip out a commander tag and open up a squad in LFG, people will find you.

Regarding the original topic, I hear what you're saying and agree in general, Teofa.

I would like to offer a little personal experience with that Bloodstone Shark as I was hunting it for the Bloodstone visage helm a couple weeks ago...

The trick to killing it with just 5 or so people: have 3 or so WARRIORS killing it at the same time. 10 to 12 of us (without any warriors) struggled and failed. That AOE pull-you-in-and insta-down-you was too much for us. So I hopped on my warrior and came back. Two other warriors joined me and a few of other classes. So it seems... that shark is very susceptible to Harpoon Gun 5 and Spear 5 skills on warrior. So with roughly 6 people, we beat that thing down like a dog! :+1:

Just my two copper... thought it might help someone kill it that needs it and has very few players available.

I do feel Anet needs to make it more apparent there are active instances of your map in progress. My brother just tried playing a couple months ago after a few years away, but was grumbling about nobody being on the HoT maps. At the time I wasn't super familiar with LFG, but if we had known there was at least one serious meta attempt going on while we were putzing around in an empty map, he'd probably still be playing. Now scouring LFG and seeing what I want to participate in is the first thing I do when I log in, but I can't stress enough that I never even glanced at the LFG tab for years. For years! Meanwhile, people are having the time of their lives in full, successful maps.

its mostly just the auric basin pylons that no one seems to do and it is impossible to 1 man, i was able to do successfully complete the vb metamap daytime event with only 1 other person but this pylon thing is driving me nuts and people only wanna do the challenge meta that comes after. thanks for all the feedback maybe im just extremely unlucky with LFG but I am in a PVE guild which might help.

That increase activity in Malchor's Leap more than in HoT.

And?

That doesn’t invalidate my post that it will increase the numbers doing the HoT content required.

I just did the Bloodstone Shark earlier today. I think the thing that made a difference was there was someone with a Commander tag at the shark calling out the waypoint to use, making it a lot easier for people to know where to gather. I think that tends to work that way with a lot of the HoT metas as well. If you get on a map where there are Commanders, the events are more likely to succeed since it allows them to be more organized.

Using the group finder, I have never had an issue finding one of the metas to do in the past couple months. You just have to look in the group finder 10-15 mins before the event is due to start to make sure you're in the right instance. Otherwise that instance fills and Commanders turn off LFG.

I literally made an identical thread when PoF came out and i still wasn't done with HoT. But a day or two later, i found a meta map that did T4 on Verdant Brink and got my Bladed armor chest piece (cause that's what i wanted).

HoT maps aren't deserted, you just have to find a meta group in lfg, people do them a lot (rewards are nice so people do the often), and ferry to that map if it isn't full.

Recently i did Bloodstone Visage collection, so i had to look for Bloodstone creatures. I looked for the spawns with Levvi's device and gw2timer.com, Wyvern was in Verdant Brink. Shouted in map, put a mentor tag up and people came totake it down. You just have to know the spawn timers, check your device if it actually spawns on that map or if it's not done already and if it spawns, just kill that type of creature until the bloodstone boss spawns. Just be sure to shout in map chat, and people will come, it's an achievement after all, people wanna do it.
