ykon.8214
Since the introduction of ascended crafting there is great demand of T2-T4 materials , especially those that are not acquired by gathering , wool-linen-leather etc . If you decide to go farm a 40 lvl area , 9 out of 10 drops will be according to your level , 80 , so the materials you receive will be silk,t5 leather which everyone has tons and are really easy to gather . Give as a choice in options to receive rewards according to map level , so if I am downscaled to lvl 40 let the game treat me as a lvl 40 character reward wise . This will also give players the incentive to return to low lvl areas .
Kaltyn of Torbins Deep.294
Alternatively - make all salvaging in a map reflect the level of the map. So even if I'm salvaging level 80 greens and blues, if I'm in a level 40 map, I get the appropriate level 40 materials out of the salvaging. starlinvf.1358
They really won't..... The whole system had issues even before Ascended gear was around; but they won't make that change because of how Core Tyria's drop system is exploitable. Even more so now that Core is Free2Play.They specifically WANT those materials to be at their current price, as its soft gating the acquisition of endgame gear and crafting collections. Both of which are created as major wealth sinks for high level players, and just barely off setting the sharp increase in liquid rewards for post-Tyrian content they did to keep feeding the reward loop. More importantly, they want to make it obvious that the newer methods are more favorable; so keeping the old system unwieldy helps push them in that new direction. Since Mid-Tier cloth and leather are the current bottle necks, devaluing T7 mats has a snow ball affect of lowering the cost of other gold sinks tied to them, further forcing future sinks to be even more aggressive in their demands. If you tracked the life cycle of Ascended gear, it has NOT had the stable effect they wanted.... They even changed the way the demand works at nearly every content block, to try and soften the mistakes of the previous ones. For instance, the new material demand distribution model of Grandmaster Marks, the new vials of might and magic for Legendary and collection crafting, are setup to level out the demand across a wider list, but the refined items are not tradable on the market. So no.... it won't change, because they want you on the new acquisition model for however long its viable. It'll then get replaced by something else when needed, and the older system left unfavorable to promote adoption.
Phy.2913
Originally maps dropped map level gear, people complained that at lvl 80 the rewards weren't worth going to lower level maps, so they changed it to be level appropriate gear, then they added the material sinks that required large number of mid tier items while leaving them harder to get.
