It's boring because boonball, ranged CC spam, and spamming negation effects like block/evade/invuln trivialize virtually every facet of gameplay.

HoT was where the decline in balance started as to make the professions tremendously imbalanced and unfun to play against per the powercreep demands from the PvE folks.

PoF dialed it to 11 with the reversion of trinity/boonball gameplay we all game to GW2 to avoid, and removed the purpose of smallscale entirely with warclaw mobility.

EoD just utterly obliterated any remaining semblance of build diversity for most of the professions by making most of the choices blatantly obvious, and ANet has failed to actually deliver compelling gameplay for years by refusing to acknowledge its competitive modes are losing players because of the heavy PvE-focus on providing peak power to all professions at 100% uptime.

The game's core PvP integrity sucks and is legitimately bad because it's 100% build-dependent at this point, with no options within the professions themselves, and very little to engage with in terms of what enemy players are doing, even compared to stuff like WoW.

Yeah very much. On top comes the progressive casualisation of the game in terms of gameplay, builds, mechanics etc. From auto upgrades, auto stunbreaks, passive boonspam, traitline simplification, trait reworks to non interactive stuff like flat damage bonus, watchtowers/objective auras, abandonment of combofields to Solars balance aproach of making builds like mech perform way above player skill. You name it.

All that has lead to encounters where you feel more and more like fighting builds/comps and mechanics rather than actual players.
